That's probably the same inconsistency problem as with MX Blue/Green before retooling. (In 2013 or so, Geekhack was full of complaints about it.)

Vintage whites shouldn't be affected, and retooled whites are supposedly great too.

https://preview.ibb.co/gBScLa/gainsborough_layout.png Does a layout like this exist? It should! =) Seconding this layout, if anything, for one of the same main reasons there are TKLs: alphabetical cluster would remain centered with monitor, and right mouse (or even a left mouse) would remain at an ...

I recently thought about the Space Cadet layout. https://deskthority.net/w/images/e/e2/Space-cadet_guts.jpg There are two interesting things about it: large function keys on the perimeter: those 2u keys (‘terminal’, ‘quote’, ‘over strike’,…) are much more practical than regular 1u function keys, but...

While that is a good design, you are limited to 2 or 3 clicky switches whereas og cherry can be used on hundreds to thousands of boards of any mx mount you want. I wish more designs utilized a curved plate like that In other words, you have a large selection of differently linear switches with MX… ...

Hilarious lyrics. (Master's Hammer: Maso z kosmu)
I found it thanks to this:
That's quite a different arrangement of the traditional Ach synku, synku, the favorite song of the very first Czechoslovak president TGM,

What's weird there? It's US on the left, CZ on the right. Only Y/Z might be swapped.

They sound and feel more or less the same as most clicky simplified Alps clones. More tactile than late Alps SKCM Black, but that's probably the only good thing I can tell about them. If anyone wants, I have a pack of those switch internals that I intended to use for modding black Alps in Dell AT101...

I strongly disagree. Here's why: both are indicators of systemic issues, one in manufacturing and the other in the community / vendor-customer relationship. IIRC the history behind Box switches' stems was such that the first customer requested tighter fit or something like that, and Kailh kept it fo...

Wouldn't that be metaping?

Anyway, the ping award, if run, will surely go to the BOX switches fiasco. Let's acclaim THAT as the winner right away and move along.
FYI Geekhack was sold to Massdrop.

That's basically my Noppoo Choc Mini without the right Control key and with spacing between F-key groups, neither of which I would consider to be an improvement, but hey, it's still the atrocious staggered layout to begin with anyway.

Can I get an estimate on a Cherry G81-3000SAC (= swiss dyesubs)? Mainly the keycaps, at least relative to SAD, SAU and/or something like SAT. (For the record, the sublegends are black, not blue/red.)

There's someone asking on Reddit:
The keyboard is from a large and old textile factory. There are no markings on the outside whatsoever. The underside is beige textured metal, the top is glossy plastic. Layout is localized (Croatian).

I know it might sound ironic in a thread about a long-abandoned device… the Eee Note lets me hack aro...

keyboards @ OpenAlt conference in Brno, Czechia, this weekend (3/4-11)

If there are any Czech members in Brno or else, I'll have a talk and show some keyboards this weekend (3rd-4th November) at the OpenAlt conference . The talk is scheduled for Sunday noon (12.00-13.30) and should cover typewriter history and keyboard layouts. I plan to bring some switches, a bunch of...

For example, the article on ES EVM reads Some models had been also produced in other countries of the Eastern bloc: Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania and East Germany; some peripheral devices were also produced in Cuba...
