Quite. I was trying to be subtly sarcy, but the internets are a cruel mistresses.

@gorb: glad someone else bit the bullet! Wonder how many they're making on this "limited run"?

Congrats! Cheers! I'd like to thank my bank account, but it's not thanking me, so I won't. Personally I think Cherry Reds need a slightly stiffer spring. Bottoming out a Cherry MX is not all that pleasant. Somewhere between red & black, you think? Actually so far I've found hitting the bottom not s...

Guess what arrived this morning? http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k72/nathanscribe/DSCN1687.jpg Initial thoughts after a quick dabble: http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k72/nathanscribe/DSCN1685.jpg Basically I think I'll like them. Not much gaming here (not on the DOS machine anyway), mostly typin...

If aluminium is OK for plate material, you could use Schaeffer (Germany) or Front Panel Express (US). You can download panel design software from the site, work out how to use it (pretty easy if you've any nous) and send them your design. Once it's paid for, it shows up in a few days. I've done seve...

Currently reading Dante's Divine Comedy by means of taking a break from Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow . Previously read Thursbitch by Alan Garner, Gulliver's Travels (Swift), and Vathek by Beckford. I like going into bookshops and asking for mad titles - ones I actually want to read, mind, not just fo...

I'm guessing there's a recognised way of representing most elements of human anatomy in ASCII but I am unaware of them. Here goes:

Expensive maybe, but if you're going to type on it for the next X years, it's not really that expensive.

That's what I told myself when I bought one earlier. Whoops...

I use a slimblade at work. Not bad, but for some reason the software for the extra functions (zoom etc.) doesn't work. I suspect overzealous admin. Otherwise I like the feel, but find myself moving the cursor while scrolling. I'd like to try one with a separate ring to compare.

I'm also using Filco, no problems so far... remapped alt/win. IBM Model M works too, I remapped alt to cmd, ctrl to option (alt) and caps lock to ctrl Before the Filco, I used a Unicomp space saver - bought with the mac key set (a pair each of Option/Command and a blank). Nice, but too big for my u...

Are Mac-specific keyboards really necessary? No. I'm using a Filco tenkeyless with mine, and it's fine. Remapping Alt/Win is a piece of cake, and I found some software called Spark that let me easily remap the mute/vol down/vol up keys to the unused print/scroll lock/pause. I'm sure there're better...

I am also on a mac and have ordered a keyboard made for windows, anyone know where i can find replacement caps for command? I bought a set of blank Filco caps and just use the blank domes for that job. I also replaced the Print/Scroll/Pause set with blanks. I have them mapped to mute/vol down/vol up.
