This should of been kept local, why the hell are massdrop using cheap Chinese workers? Anything to save/make $5? What is local? UK (which is your location), Canada, USA, or Sweden ? massdrop went with exactly what the keyboard designers did. PCB company in China called PCBwing. I'm tired of this to...

in coding (and generally in document editing) home/end are used so much more than pgup/pgdn How can you say that? Your own experience only? I do both coding and document editing, and use pgPp pgDown MUCH more than home/end in both cases. I guess a dip switch or toggle setting to select which of the...

Saboteur. Terorrmolinos. Manic Miner. poke 23659,0. The memories!!! My first computer hardware mod was on a ZX spectrum 48K (with the rubber keys), finding the composite video signal on the side of the RF modulator, drilling the case, installing an RCA jack for video out, and soldering it. Much bett...

can someone tell me the possible kits and prices? Full keyboard (without keycaps) in acrylic case: $199. You must specify the MX switch type (blue, black, or red) and the case style (Classic or Full Hand) at no different cost. Add $65 to change the material to aluminum. Subtract $44 if you do not w...

Yup, but when it comes from a little buzzer instead of computer speakers, it sounds much more tinny, closer to a click. It's actually the buzzer generating the sine wave in the keyboard case; all you provide to the buzzer from the controller is DC voltage whenever you want it to sound.

A short burst (say 10ms) of a sine wave (around 2.4 KHz is my estimate of what my Kinesis does) is what makes a virtual "click" sound. Very useful to add feedback to linear switches, to avoid bottoming out. Kinesis and some old Zenith keyboards have it and it's very nice feature to have. It's like h...

Nice keyboard... but I sure hope it's NKRO

Actually, yours has more keys than mine, I have a teensy with the ErgoDox firmware loaded, on a breadboard, without any switch. I do have an led and a piezo buzzer on it though, for a click sound :)

I much prefer the better compatibility of 6KRO keyboards than having the rather useless NKRO. Do I really have to always point out the difference between good NKRO and bad NKRO? Actually, I'd love to read about this, if you have a good pointer. My impression (which could be wrong) is that NKR...

I much prefer the better compatibility of 6KRO keyboards than having the rather useless NKRO. Wow, group buy ended with 204 unit sold! That's a huge and swift success for the ErgoDox project! It's definitely not a ripoff, the price estimate when this project was started, was ~ $400, and given ergonomic mechanical keyboards like the Kinesis Advantage and even the Truly ergonomic are more than $200, for a custom, limited-production keyboard $199 is a great price, and my guess is you'll be ...

planet36: Legs are supposed to go under the case, ie so it doesn't slip around on your desk, but it's easy to get many kinds of rubber feet and glue or screw them onto the case.

Not to mention, it would be a pain having to type QWERTY in the BIOS or in lilo / grub prompts / or when just setting up a new OS or trying a bootable DVD, if you don't like QWERTY. I use Dvorak, and having the layout in the keyboard itself (I use a Kinesis Advantage) is fantastic. Kudos to WASD for...

I have a Touchstream as well. It would be wonderful if it had a sculpted surface so you could "feel" keys even if not depressable. But it's very hard to type on it without looking. The mousing is amazing though.

Hmm, you could mount your ErgoDox to a flat surface in a fixed position.
Or you could build a pyramid like shape stand to fit your lap, and have the ErgoDox sides inclined... I bet it will be very comfortable to type that way.

Neat! I like your Mark 3 concept for a compact ergonomic keyboard. So, what are your thoughts on the ErgoDox ? It seems that it's better / more flexible than your Mark 2, since it's not fixed, so if you have an ErgoDox, what prompted you to do something so similar?

Well, they did say "it's awfully close" (to 150) so it gives me a little bit of hope that they might do something.
I wish they drop the PCB price for those who order extra PCBs with a keyboard...
Anyway, so far I have ordered 1 keyboard (full hand acrylic case). without switches or extra PCBs.

The ErgoDox undoubtedly deserves the win. Unlike uber-ergo but scary looking keyboards like the excellent Datahand and Kinesis, it's a design that has the potential to become mainstream, AND it's affordable, customizable, infinetly adjustable. The Ergodox could start a revolution if the masses knew ...

It's not bad math, it just means that 17 have done "commit to join" instead of "join", which means they will only buy at $199. So when $199 is reached, these 17 will be automatically joined as buyers, otherwise if it stays at $226 they won't buy (unless they change their mind in the mean time). It's...
