I haven't tried Mitsumis yet, but the other three boards mirror my thoughts exactly. I've also had several dead M2s. Thanks! I remember watching your review before buying my Dell AT101W (which is still my favorite vintage keyboard, all things considered, even though I switched to using QFR w/MX Blu...

usually slider over domes are not 1/2 bad, not something to lust over but passable. Something does not have to be true mechanical to be good , look at Trope. Hmmm, not quite sure about that. I've been saving a lot of dome with slider keyboards for the last two months or so for a big dome with slide...

Very nice, I'm pretty sure that's the first pictures of the internals of this switch we've seen! Is it a nice lock switch or is it quite rough like most lock switches?

Yeah, I'm quite curious to see what it's made out of too. Usually they're not too specific with these things but who knows. Problem is that even if the cleaning agent isn't directly corrosive to the plastic it might attack the plasticisers and embrittle the material among many things.

Tenso is the best way. I got my HHKB through them. A right wee stunner! My Type-S cost me a good bit less than even a regular HHKB at European price. I meant through a recycling centre :P . Which Alps? There's more diversity in that vortex than makes sense… Linear :) And I like also the black ones, the ones that people say are crappy  I just love the way they feel Black Alps are underrated IMO. You probably like them because they are a bit of a tactile/linear hybrid. They feel a ...

Why do I have to use the 8-pin socket though, can't I just use the 6-pin PS/2 one? Also, considering it's been used at PoS, what will all those weird buttons do on my computer? IIRC Tipro is programmable, but how?

Today's (colourful) haul

Found two DigiPoS boards at the recyclers' today. Both are POS boards (obviously) with relegendable keycaps, in shades of purple. It comes with a card reader and the whole thing is pretty heavy, about 1.8 kg. It has, as you'd expect, MX blacks (why do I keep getting those?! xD) http://i864.photobuck...

Chyros, I knew they're two company but I can't classify some variant of tooth pattern which is Hi-Tek or Stackpole surely. Is Stackpole a copycat? Yes, Stackpole is a copycat. The tooth pattern has to do with which of the "hands" are "toothed" so to speak. Hi-Tek only has teeth on ONE of the hands....

I'm very surprised it weighs "only" 3 kg tbh. It looks like it would be over 4 Oo .

The easiest way is the tooth pattern which allows you to see very clearly whether it's a true Hi-Tek or a Stackpole. Btw Stackpole was a different company entirely and not affiliated with Hi-Tek; the latter sued for patent infringement on the back of Stackpole's obviously stolen design.

Although it's got a GBP symbol on it it's still ANSI with @ on the 2. Strange. Maybe £30-40 for a good one? Does an ISO AEK 1 even exist ? I've not seen one and I've been looking for a while. That ISO/ANSI combination is about as close as I've seen on the AEK. Yeah I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist....
