I might nick your accent. The way you say "Jesus tap dancing Christ" sounds impressive.

I broke out my box of loose NMB dome with slider sliders and from that picture it would definitely appear the two are identical. Admittedly, all mine are white instead of grey. It's possible NMB made these for NEC, or NEC made them under license. It's a shame the board doesn't show an FCC ID, that's...

Maybe it's the picture but it looks more like NMB dome with slider to Oo . Which are incredibly common xD .terrycherry wrote: ↑The keyboard model is PC-9801-116. It's the NEC slider with dome keyboard. Rare to see this slider.

OEMMAX MCK-101: at $20 plus shipping atm. Should be Alps SKCM Blue. Ortek is the OEM too so it might have doubleshot caps as a bonus.

Maybe because the shipping is three times the cost of the board, not counting import taxes which could double the whole figure again? :pmr_a500 wrote: ↑I'm still amazed that people aren't buying these. I consider this to be the #1 NOS vintage keyboard to buy for value. ($35 Cortron/Licon hall effect keyboard is #2)

It's normal, yellowing depends on the composition of the plastic used. They add bromine to ABS as a flame retardant and when it's exposed to UV it causes yellowing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retr0bright Many manufacturers of old school doubleshots (honeywell, beamsprings, etc) apparently didn't...

The penetration into the cap is a good solid sign of dye sublimation. Even the deepest dyesub doesn't have to go all the way through the plastic. It's not built up from behind, like doubleshot! A better picture of the top of the cap would be good. The one you have there looks like a dodgy exposure....

Depends which people. It worked splendidly for those of us who actually count. Hint: neither me nor you! Hence why I said "the people" :p . But I agree, it's worked out splendidly for the others. As have many, many other things in UK politics for a while now. Honestly, when I came to the UK three y...

Yeah, that sounds more like normal shipping charges. In the UK however, privatisation hasn't QUITE worked out all that well for the people.Halvar wrote: ↑Ah, sorry Mu, I misunderstood that.
BTW, I paid about 20 € to send it from Germany to Austria using Hermes (about 11 kgs).

They are most definitely dyesubbed. I paid $5 for it, so (in the name of keyboard knowledge) I could slice a key in half and confirm the dyesub definitively with photographs. Sorry, I misread that at first, I thought you HAD sliced one in half and confirmed it yet. Anyway, I have hundreds of these ...

Excellent vid, Chyros. I had no idea Alps were serviceable without desoldering. They sure are, it's one of the key design advantages of Alps! :) I'm usually wary about watching videos — I read a lot faster than almost anyone can talk, and loathe the awkward pauses and errors videos so often include...

1992, that's a very late one for green Alps. By that time it's three years off the MouseFan Alps timeline already (although I think some companies were still using what must've been leftover stock for lock lights on some boards). It's also the only instance I've ever heard of green Alps on a Focus. ...
