I've always considered DT to be pretty balanced when it came to switches. The second most active thread on DT is about MX compatible keycaps ... Then there's also the very strong IBM fraction ... And I am sure some Hi-Tek pervs can be found around here as well. I would hope the "pervs" have a wider...

it probably was a Cherry fest. In fairness I did show up with vintage boards, I just showed up after the meet up was almost over :p I'll get the time right next time Don't mind me, I'm just an old, grouchy, pretentious, elitist, douch canoe. Do people know that Matias switches are superior to White...

Do people know that Matias switches are superior to White and Brown Alps? I never found anything particularly special about those. Blue Alps is pretty unique, though. People should know that is NOT THE CASE ! Matias switches aren't total crap but nowhere as nice as clean unworn original Alps SKCM /...

White Alps in good shape may fit what you're looking for. Relatively stiff and very tactile with a nice click - not as smooth as blue alps but theyre a lot more affordable! Black Space invaders had a nice click too, although I didn't like the double click with every press. Very good point and a sma...

I have this odd thing for vintage boards, but I'm not sure which I should get next. I'm pretty familiar with the IBM side of things (I'm typing this on a Model F XT) and have quite a few buckling spring boards, as I love a clicky board, but I'm looking to get something a bit different. And while I ...

So what's hot these days? Whatever you like. :) Is deskthority still the place to be and has not been tranformed into an extension of reddit? Won't happen although DT is not a club anymore. Are Model Fs and beamsprings still the cream of the crop? In the world of vintage IBM boards yes. Are there a...

Ping is genuinely the worst attribute of mechanical keyboards Yeah the PING can get anoying alright. :| Lube all your alps springs and floss mod all your model fs people Model F? :? My F's don't really PING that bad compared to some older Alps SKCC boards. Try floss modding, it will amaze you how m...

Nice, of course I "only" own SKCL Green Alps in their original unlubed form in my Zenith ZKB-2 but I'm sure there's potential in lubing.

No, it hasn't. The stepped backspace on the XT is nowhere near being its biggest problem. Also, let's not scare keyboardnovice off with a Model F flame war (not yet, at least). Is there a raging XT vs AT debate?? If so, sign me up for...*checks picture*... TEAM AT!! Nope, but good to know...

The Wildcats board is really special to me because it was my favorite sports team growing up. Unicomp still sells both blue on white alphas as well as blue modifiers if you want to build it yourself, it just won't have the Kentucky icons on it. Apparently Unicomp hasn't changed their dyes in 20 yea...

Very nice. Was this keyboard pulled from a missile silo? I imagine the 3 keys needed to be turned at the same time to launch. Hey thanks man. No I don't think it sat in a silo but who knows...like I said the switch is the most interesting part about it really. I'll upload my meager video soon.

Wow nice find Seebart. I remember Haata's[0] and yours looks to be in very nice condition. Looks like an incredibly well built keyboard, I suppose it should be for the fortune it probably cost. If only the keycaps didn't seem so prone to yellow strangely. Thanks for sharing! [0] https://www.flickr....
