Re: Alps Appreciation
I'd like a darker grey lock lights sticker, but I can't have everything. I've looked into making custom stickers for restoring Omnikeys, and I got some transparent and opaque slides that can be printed on with a laser printer, and that have an adhesive back surface. What I haven't been able to find...

Re: Dell AT102W retrobright help!
Remember that the "white" Dell case is really a cream color and the keycaps are cream and dark tan. Don't go for full-on white. It'll be splotchy. There's a good pic in the wiki of pure white caps next to the Dell caps, for comparison. As an example of how too much temp can be bad for you, I decided...

As always, I did search, but I got way too many hits, so new thread. I've had a Datacomp DK-191 shoved in a corner for a while. It doesn't have a case. However, it does have the uncommon yellow clicky SMK 2nd Gen switches, but several on the num pad are broken. I did a general search for SMK case an...

TL;dr I'll share all the eeprom backups I have here. I'll do backups for all the keyboards I come across that have ZIF eeproms, so enjoy! Share yours, too! Quick details: I have an OmniKey with a bad eeprom. I thought I could take the eeprom from another OmniKey and make it work, so let's buy a pro...

The paint I've used is Rust-Oleum Granite Grey, topped off with a couple of coats of clear matte enamel. I've heard of and seen the dye keyboards and those do look pretty good, but the difficulty level is much higher. There are also some nice paint colors from Duplicolor, but I've had the most compl...

Nice idea. I have this set of double-shot new Tai-Hao Alps keycaps (blue, light blue, and tan) and I think I'll swap out the original pad print Dell/SGI caps for these, too. I've got three or four bigfoot cases, but they're all cream colored. I know a couple are pretty yellow, so I may paint those g...

Kind of like the old Omnikey 101s ignored every other PrintScreen press. That's by design. Using a different PS/2-to-USB converter did not help. Transplanting new switches under the malfunctioning keys did not help. Transplanting a new chip and a new oscillator from a 101P did not help. I am not se...

Re: Dear Model F owners, can we talk? (Long rant)
I've mentioned that I've had several Model F XTs and Model Ms, from IBM, Lexmark, and Unicomp. This includes new, old stock. I said I prefer the Model M because the Fs felt like they were going to throw a rod or something every time I typed on it. I also strongly hated the extra heavy-duty weighting...

I roll a natural D20 and I'm able to resurrect this thread. I have an Ergo Pro that also has a blown micro USB port. I can actually see it moving around inside its housing. Playing with the data cable does occasionally make one of the lock lights come on, so I'm fairly confident that this is the pro...

I think it was an Apple Standard keyboard. I'm not sure if I saw it here or on ebay.
Something that is posted here, somewhere, is an AEK or AEKII with Alps that have dust-protection shrouds. Those are kinda cool, too.
Yes, I should post those in the Wiki when I run across them. I'm lazy.

At what point is it no longer a keyboard? I definitely wouldn't call this a keyboard. Just watching the video of this thing made my wrists hurt.
