If the color is carefully selected and the keyboard is in dire need of a repaint, then I don't see the harm. As long as the history of the keyboard is respected in the restoration job. Well that's what I think, of course everyone can paint their keyboard the way they want, except in pink. Never pain...

Oh ok I missed that F107 on the first page! Oh... poor keyboard. Maybe with standard keycaps instead of the relegendable ones, and with the case on, it would look OK.

The picture in the group buy doesn't seem to represent the end product. L1 in the diagram is supposed to be 150 mm, which hopefully is enough to avoid tension inside the F77 case.

One with a missing keycap sold for 2.5k$ on eBay some days (weeks?) ago. So yeah, that's what I would call "incredibly expensive" for a keyboard.

From the pictures of the F77, the cable is not removable, right? I will probably get a coiled cable too and I want to make sure I pick the right one.

Good job! Did you left the rubber mat out on purpose? Which paint did you use for the coating? On a Model M restoration that I did, I used Rust-Oleum flat gray cold galvanizing spray paint and it worked very well. I also ruined the metal plate sticker on that restoration... those things are just too...

It would not be a Model F replica with a modern form factor if the springs were feeling different. Also, a lot of people are buying those keyboards because they love the tactility and sound of Model F buckling springs. Nobody knows the tactility and sound of "better material than IBM yet more quiet,...

From what I read, it depends on the composition of the hot glue but in most cases, it is an insulator.

I received the keyboard with all the broken tabs under the keycaps so it looks like it happened during shipping. IBM M2 restoration log - No one left behind!

In the following days, I will restore this IBM Model M2, which I acquired for 50$CAD shipped (~38.75$USD). This keyboard has a bad reputation but frankly, I like typing on it and the build quality is not as poor as I read. However this keyboard is not working and I do not accept non-working keyboard...

I am interested in using a single color LED for each key Ok and I assume you don't want to control each LED individually. In that case, a matrix of single color LEDs is very similar to a matrix of switches. You build a MxN matrix and then you scan that matrix at a certain frequency to give current ...

Can you be more specific on what you want to do with the LEDs?
Do you want single color LEDs or RGB LEDs?
Do you want to be able to program the LEDs?
There is a huge difference in design between a strip of LEDs under the keyboard vs programmable RGB LEDs!
