Re: mystery calculator switch [Magnetic Reed]
The keycap remind me of this https://www.ebay.com/itm/202814834933? But the switch mechanism is different. Definitely looks like it's from a calculator, typewriter or a control panel of some kind (basically anything that isn't a conventional computer keyboard). Edit: 'RM' is a pretty common key on c...

Re: Joystick Competition Mini w/ Teensy
This is a really clean conversion, even with the translucent shell most poeple wouldn't realize it was modified. It's the perfect size for a crowed desk. I wonder how it compares to the Logitech Wingman Attack 3 I picked up years ago. Most joysticks that aren't terrible actually seem pretty good. Su...

Re: Vintage Increases Value?
But think this way, why a collectible card (it's just a piece of paper) can cost, say 100.000 USD? Like a Pokemon one. So, why not an old rare Keyboard that could be used as a daily board cannot cost more than that? Like a classic car for example. Collectables typically have value because of the co...

Re: Funding keyboard tours Interest Check
I have an F XT I wouldn't mind turning into a space monkey, but it needs a convertor and I'm located in the US. This wouldn't work too well for an Ergodox since it took me about 3 weeks of practice to get comfortable on a Kinesis Advantage. Unless it's a 1 month per person kind of tour. Definitely d...

Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)
The stepped mount plate is a great idea. I wonder why you want to use the 3d-printed skeleton though. Right now most of the custom keyboard designers and users lean to use soft plates (PC plate/half plate) and mounting methods enable soft bottom out (gasket/PORON+leaf-spring). Your solution by its ...

Neat, I'll take the Tragicforce PCB! I'm also using a disassembled Magicforce for my build lol. PM me with the info! I'll pm you the moment find it  Just to clarify you already have the daughter board used with the original PCB to route the USB port? I don't mind just selling the QMK PCB, but ...

Now I really did somewith wrong in regard of a potential buy of a Model F AT. There has been an offer for a German version of this keyboard on eBay kleinanzeigen, a German classified ads site. I keep hanging around on this site because sometimes you can try to low ball some clueless people who do n...

Re: Space Cadet Keyboard on eBay
It'd be like taking a Xerox Alto and throwing away everything but the keyboard, it totally misses everything else that makes the system so interesting (the first GUI, the use of a mouse, the way the keyboard is shaped to fit under the monitor). A guy at work has an Alto in his home office, it's alw...

Where's the rest of the machine? I don't understand what this fetish with keyboards is all about. :ugeek: Normally I understand the fixation with keyboards, but the keyboard is honestly one of the least interesting parts of the Lisp machine. It'd be like taking a Xerox Alto and throwing away everyt...

That curved plate is genius (and gloriously overengineered).
How did you model the plate step + curve in Fusion360? I tried something similar and I really just eyeballed it after a point.

Re: Broken Space Invaders switch?
Strange, I used to rinse all my Alps and space invaders (and heaps of other old computer parts) in 99% IPA by hand and never noticed any discolouration to parts (or hands). Maybe it wasn't really 99%... If it's anything like hydrogen peroxide then it breaks down and loses potency after some time. I...

Looks a lot like Hi-Tek to me My bet is on grid as well. These are the same model as the single one discussed a bit above from the same seller. Re: Broken Space Invaders switch?
I mean I've sprayed the silicone based version of WD40 directly into switches without any ill effects, but I knew I was living dangerously. Isopropyl alcohol would work as a decent contact cleaner, but you might want to lubricate after you use it. But this is coming from someone that cleans cases an...

The most solid feeling board I've ever tried, even with a plastic case it is incredibly well built. The previous owner swapped clicky Razer switches into it, but it would have had preretool blacks otherwise, so I consider that an improvement. It has 2KRO and will loudly beep if you exceed that which...

Milspec USB keyboard https://www.ebay.com/itm//294110603483 I imagine this has some kind of rubber barrier to make it sand-proof and some shielding to make it HEMP-proof, all of which probably means it's horrible to type on. Then what the hell good is it? I suppose it's for larger companies who hold parts and repair hostage (Apple making certain parts locked by hardware ID ). Unicomp sells more replacement parts than most and has enabled for more than a few Model M restorations, so I think they comply with...

Looks like the stem came off with the keycap. It'll be easier to reassemble if you remove the slider/stem from under the keycap and put that back on first, then reattach the keycap after.
Pretty sure those are linears though.

Re: How do I make Locklights work with an XT converter?
No reason to use XT mode unless you're using it with a 5150 since as far as I know the primary difference between XT and AT protocol is that AT supports checking lock light states. I have an XT only K151L (no toggle switch, label lists PC/XT, AT/XT) and it also has lock lights, so maybe they found s...
