Re: Keyboard Photogrammetry
I ended up shooting the photos again using some of the lessons I learned earlier. Final product turned out great though! Couldn't be happier after struggling so much with the first set of pictures. https://skfb.ly/ouPuW https://i.imgur.com/pgKDCgg.gif Here are all of the photos, where you can see th...

Re: Keyboard Photogrammetry
One problem with scanning a keyboard using the turntable workflow is that as it rotates, the edge of the keyboard moves closer to the camera, bringing the close parts out of focus. I finally tried to address this with a new technique that I thought of, which was to put the camera on a rail slider. S...

Re: Keyboard Photogrammetry
Did you take the textures straight from a loose switch? Looks so grimey! Yes, the texture was generated from the same set of photos that I used to generate the mesh. The switch came from a grimey keyboard, but it itself didn't look horrible. I gave it a quick rinse before shooting the pictures but ...

He doesn't want the keyboard he sent me back because shipping is too high, but, as a condition for the refund, I have to destroy the keyboard and send him pics. ... @snacksthecat: Great work on this C.ITOH board! I've been looking for one of these for some time, but no luck. @Razerban: Likewise, kudos for writing the QMK firmware and sharing it. Regarding the keycaps on this board -- What kind of plastic and which method of printing? Now I'm not sure about the...

Loupedeck+
The Christmas gift I received from my parents this year was a Loupedeck+ photo editing keyboard. It allows you to edit pictures in Lightroom (and a some other programs) without clicking and dragging the little sliders. https://i.imgur.com/hQEeHlf.png I had some fun taking pictures of it yesterday an...

But space bar remains the same. ;) Nice animation. I’m minded to make an animated gif version of my latest matrix analysis , as I have so many layers in the file, giving it an X-ray tear down feel. Got tips? Thanks Mu! This I did with my camera's interval timer. I wanted the panning motion to go sm...

Re: Keyboard Photogrammetry
Another thing I just learned: you can decimate the mesh down quite low and still preserve almost all the detail. I'm doing a lot more trial and error comparisons with different settings and it's really been helpful to see clear examples of the differences. I wanted to try what I had mentioned (using...

Re: Keyboard Photogrammetry
Thank you guys. This was really fun but also absolutely maddening to get the texture to look OK. The switch housing when I originally generated the texture was even more frosted looking. What I ended up doing was disabling all but ~12 cameras, which had a non-glare view of the inside. In hindsight I...

Tried a really challenging scan, which was a red Matias switch. It's both very small and transparent! Naturally it didn't turn out quite right but I think it looks kind of interesting.

Re: Kinda curious: What makes Alps so sensitive to dust?
Two things that are worse than nails on a chalkboard to me: 1) Trying to rip off a piece of scotch tape and it instead scraping against the little plastic teeth 2) Sticky alps I get the horrible anticipation of that scotch tape feeling whenever I'm about to type on an alps board (dirty or clean); gu...

Re: ADDS ASCII in ADDS Mode
Very interesting and clever project. I'd describe most of my keyboard projects as brute force trying **things**, seeing an led blink, and trying to figure out what I just did. Somehow I've never fried a board yet. Anyway, my point is I'm glad to see a pro like yourself sometimes finds himself in a s...

They’re just too damn open at the top: (Chicago mechanic accent) See there's your problem. Gonna be about a week before me and the boys can open these puppies up and hit it with the ultrasonic. Last owner probably didn't keep up with regular maintenance. Lucky for you I don't see any sign of switch...
