10/100 are pretty old now but excellent for a home lab when your learning / training . A virtual switch is all well and good but no substitute for learning on the real thing!

Unless it's older Netgear stuff , then you will just want to kill yourself , the UI is terrible

The computer has a bit of a history as well, if you're interested: https://imgur.com/a/UWSavnC That is cool! That looks like the same ram i use on my 2950x ( micron b die right ?). I struggled to get hold of it! Mine can do 2933 at decent timings, have to drop em too low for 3200 to be worth it!

You could prob fill that back in with paint and a very fine sewing needle as a paintbrush. Dunno what type of paint but you want something quite thick , like modelling paints .

My hat’s off to you! And especially working for a not-for-profit I can respect the frugality. My company is very different - it has revenues in excess of €10B a year, and it’s is most definitely for profit, so there’s a lot of waste and no significant pressure to reduce it. Some early IBM rubber domes are ok. Some cherry ones aint too terrible. Some much older Compaq. Dont remember the model number , but some Packard Bell keyboards (early ones) where dome on PCB, never used one but they are supposed to be on the tail of the best rubber dome ( and one of the better swit...

I went and asked the friendly guys in IT asset management (their office is right by the coffee machine and I had nothing to do anyway) and they said no problem, just keep the mouse and keyboard. I guess they have better things to do than de-cap and de-grease people’s old keyboards just to be able t...

To those who recommend talking to IT asset management, you’ve got a point. That’s how it should be handled and if my boss was in any way running things by the book then I’d just do that; but he’s not. As an IT manager myself , i don't inventory keyboards even expensive ones. They are not something ...

Re: Reproducing Alps Keycaps (IC)

AT101 Alps profile. For stabs, MX mount/Matias are probably the best option. I will have to do more research on that, and ask around to see if there are any other choices. Edit: Alps mount looks like the way to go. It will have to be determined by where the keycaps go, and if they are going to be a...

I highly doubt that the unicomp SSK will eat into original SSK that much , with normies or people with far too much money on eBay yeh sure , but true collectors and experts will still want the original and will be willing to pay a fair price for it. I'll take the dust on them as excuse to finally buy an ultrasonic cleaner! Don't ultrasonic them unless you have to. That mouse looks odd. I have a rollermouse red plus and love it to bits , but i would never use it for cad work. When i need a mouse ( games etc) i use a Ducky Secret. I would say you need to try to get some physical prototypes first (3d printed would be not ideal but should be fine to show the concept). People always respond better to a thing they can see rather than a promise to make something. Don't make the video too flashy , it just looks like your getting so...
