Re: Topre Silencing Rings?

That collection is BAD ASS!!! The snow blanks look incredible on a black hhkb if that tempts you at all You better believe my temptation is through the roof at that thought! In fact I've thought about buying the blank snow key-caps and then seeing about doing a custom dye-sub job including ...

Re: Topre Silencing Rings?

It’s too early in the day to summon the fury and dismay my actual reaction to those Christ awful legends, which are yet another step entirely in the wrong direction for the HHKB. Maybe I should just hoard the good ones while they’re still out there, like Wobbled? I am however in favour of MX ...

Re: Topre Silencing Rings?

It sounds like I'm going for the Deskeys thins. I am shooting for quiet but no affect on tactility. :ugeek: Incidentally: while digging up that link, I found this: https://fujitsuscannerstore.com/CG01000-307201/ Is this “Snow” model news? Does it deserve a separate thread? And can anyone guess what...

Re: Topre Silencing Rings?

My 2014 HHKB is Type-S original. The black one I bought last year is the one with Hyper’s rings, along with my 87U and NovaTouch. I’ll keep an eye on the younger (2020 manufacture date) black model for any change in tactility as you say. I’ve already said I prefer its lightness to my heavily used 2...

Re: Topre Silencing Rings?

However I personally wouldn’t use [Hypersphere’s rings] on an unsilenced hhkb as it will pre-compress the dome taking away tactility and causes long term damage. Got a source for this claim? I use Hypersphere rings on all my non Type-S Topre boards, because that’s precisely the point of them. If a ...

Re: Topre Silencing Rings?

Realistically your only choice now is deskeys since kbdfans have completely ditched topre and did a mass sell off of all their stuff. If you have purple realforce sliders, type s sliders, or deskey sliders then hypersphere rings could be an option. However I personally wouldn’t use these on an unsil...

Out of curiosity, how would I check if my Realforce is an R1 model?
The R1 has an extended top lip with the realforce logo on the top left.
The R2 edges sit pretty close to the edges of the keycaps and the logo is on the top right side.
Here is a comparison video

I don’t know anything about firmware but I do know it runs on via.
I bought it to create a realforce 86u, I suppose you could upgrade an old 86u if you had one to enable key remappings, but if you do then sell me your old PCB 😂 i destroyed realforce 101/3s and 91us just to get a black and white 86u

For how much are used 87U R1 normally going for these days? They are pretty expensive and hard to come by usually. PeterQuines confirmed the BSSK will be like the B104, except with the right side removed. No lock LEDs but they can be added just like with the F77/F62. Glad your new Model F is holding up well so far. I added this note to the product pages in the what's included section. Sorry akuseru1994, the key...

Re: Topre Sliders & Feeling

The lighter domes is just a Hybrid Type S thing, PFU wanted it to have a distinctively softer keypress. If you pick up a HHKB Classic (still 3rd gen) then the domes are much more comparable to a NIB pro 2

The Hybrid Type S domes despite being 45g, are softer than the 45g pro 2 and realforce domes. This will contribute massively to the feel, as much as it being a plastic plate vs steel on a realforce

I was exaggerating, right enough, but well agreed that we’re not really their audience; thus the history of miscommunications. We were asking them to make SSKs for years and years before the new kid showed up and finally got them shipping. In fact, some of us were even designing them . Then rage qu...
