Re: Great/Interesting Finds

Someone in Ohio sold a new F77 on fb marketplace for $70 last month. I was really confused by that. I was very tempted to get it but I have no excuse to buy another F. You sure it wasn't an original F77 that they sold without awareness of what it was? :P Of course, it could be anything. Maybe this ...

Re: Alps Appreciation

The DC-2214 definitely came both ways. I have examples of both in the database. As with the Northgates there doesnt seem to be an exact break by serial number. It's very likely the 3014 came with blue and white switches too. The Leading Edge keyboards came with their computers. Not something you co...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

I feel like part of the lack of care came from less awareness, less information about these, and also generational differences. In the 90s, this equipment was becoming useless and getting phased out and there were so many advances going on that I'm sure made it easy to cast the old, dated stuff asid...

Re: About yellowing

While UV is often cited as the prime reason for yellowing of our beloved keyboards' plastics, heat is also another big culprit. If keyboards were stored in an improper environment, ie without climate control, then heat and humidity could've played a part in its yellowing. Also, I believe if there's ...

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!

Where do I get these? They are from the Realforce model 108UG-JS ZH0400. The 108UW ZH0300 comes with cream alphas and grey modifiers (same tone as these). These are JustSystems promotional limited edition models which come with the red modifier keys. There are also vintage OEM model keyboards from ...

Re: Opening and cleaning SMK blue clicky switchs

Oh, easy, just get some toothpicks to wedge I there or if you’re super careful, some small flathead screwdrivers. They are the easiest switches in the world to open without desoldering. Chyrosran22 has a video or two on how to do it. These SMK switches are not the Alps switches you're mistaking the...

Re: How many keyboards is enough?!

I've kept my collection relatively static for a while now and have grown content with what I have while selling off what I feel less of an attachment to. Ultimately it's all relative, whether you can justify keeping an entire warehouse full of keyboards or just a closet or even less so. It's all up ...

That’s right, the one I built doesn’t use Alps stabs, since the Granite keyset doesn’t support them.
SGI Granite keyboards don’t have traditional Alps stabilizers?
They mean DSA Granite from Matt3o

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Weak finish. What a shame. That doesn't look like the original finish at all, nor does it seem anywhere near as durable. Fading from use, from simply resting one's palms on the bezel while typing? I've never seen a single 4704 owner complain about that. Most of the chips and dings on those boards ca...

Shots fired!

Can't say I really cared much for the beamspring boards I've owned though.

If I had to choose between Cap BS and beamspring, I'd probably take a nice Cap BS variant over a similar (aesthetically pleasing/pleasing layout) beamspring.

Good stuff, Robb. Very creative! Seeing those recreations of the housing and slider setup is wild. Very nice work thus far.

The wonders of 3D printing. Otherwise, you'd have to do some serious scratch building to get everything precise one even just one side.

Re: Wholesale lot of keyboards!

Those dark grey keyboards are obviously not branded NCR - which as an NCR owner I would woefully admit, makes them even rarer  Just as an info, NCR branded boards do not simply have a sticker, the brand is molded together with the upper shell. This is not true. I've had to remove and replace t...

Wouldn't removing a stablizer that way still not solve the issue? They'd need to place a flipper in that position if I've understood correctly.

Wow, that is the first tasteful usage I've seen of the Canon spherical caps. It actually matches very well with the Tai Hao Dolch colorway.

They can be affordable, if you find them on taobao. Less so on other more well-searched platforms.

To the OP, I just remembered that I actually have a loose P70 keyboard unit if you're interested. I could send you a PM if you'd like.
