I think it looks fantastic, and I cant wait to build this. So are you going to hack away the spacers? WKL +winkeys is the best way to lay ou...

..since you asked.. QFN chips are sitting at my table, PCBs are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Just got my hot air gun from the mailbox and used it to desolder my first attempt at SMD soldering (placed the chip 180 degrees to proper position :) ). So over the weekend I should know if the hardwa...

I've been using 50g and 40g springs for a while in creams. The 40g are for my mods (linear modded) and the 50s are for my alphas. It makes them feel great. The lower actuation force makes them a lot smoother, but also a lot less tactile. For me, that's great. The typing feel is really nice. I love l...

Basically what I already have for my 60% (different mod assignment, but same keys). Looks great, is great.czarek wrote: ↑Pretty easy actually. If there was an apocalypse and I only had 58 switches to build a keyboard, I'd probably go with layout like this:
58 switches all you need for a rad 60%.

How in the world do you convince these companies to do such awesome stuff for this project? It's simply amazing. This is exactly what I would have hoped for. It's a level of polish that I would have only expected out of an "Actual Company", like I'm ordering a board off Amazon. The work done here is...

Don't know about in Germany, but I've seen a few AT's up for sale, for relatively cheaply, in both Canada and the US. But, they were around $125, which may be closer to the going rate for them. I know that the AT was much less commonly distributed than was the XT, and only had a short production cyc...

Honestly, it sounds as if the perfect board for you is something like the Model F AT, or Apple's M0116. The AT can be easily modded to use ANSI or ISo layouts, and already has almost your entire wishlist of features. I've even seen a mod done with it to give it the standard 7u spacebar + Alt keys on...

Something just came to me... Pending the timing for the delivery of all the products to me, I think I might have time print up a mini version of the tool I made for reattaching the springs to the flipper paddles. Mine did 10 at a time and worked quite well (no design changes needed really), but we ...

There's a lot of banter between F and M (and beamspring, which is a completely different switch using a plate spring). At the end of the day they're all good, but the Model M revolutionized the PC keyboard layout and implemented some amazing features that most Model Fs and beamsprings just don't ha...

I love Ms exactly for their crude masculine feel and sound, comparatively Cherry switches are more refined and feminine... My thoughts exactly. Model-Ms are for Men and the Cherry Switched disaster's are all for Women or those so inclined. Where do you put people who own Thorpies because it's total...

Just got a 64217 in the post. Very cheap on eBay, USB converted. The trackball is very smooth, and it works perfectly. The buttons are well stabilized, and feel fantastic regardless of where they're pressed. The Blue label is also a big plus. Looking forward to replacing the ball with a pool ball, f...

@micrex- thanks- I'm pretty sure you're right. I'll have to do some tests on the pin-outs. Problem is, I have no documentation on the board. As I said before, it only has 6 wires leading from the controller. Not sure what those would correspond to on the serial mouse. I'll try a few things with a mu...

IBM Model M50 I was kinda disappointed Unicomp never actually put this out during their Black Friday sale, would have been very tempted to pick one of these up. Also, more fun legends! http://www.clickykeyboard.com/2010/jul17/010.jpg Love the M50. Unicomp may not have any left in stock. It may also...

This is hard. Going mostly for things I don't have yet though, and concentrating mostly on a collection I could potentially amass and use. As such, I wanted to hit a few categories: at home board, at work board, travel board, etc. Unsaver The layout is fabulous, has great symmetry with the nav-clust...

There should be a market for new cases if opened up to Geekhack. Quite a lot of IBM owners could be interested in pimping their old board. That one actually interests me a lot. How large is that market? How many units, realistically? I have an impression it's not even a thousand. It all depends on ...

Just saw Chyros' video- I was having the hardest time imagining exactly how they worked. The clicky variant reminds immediately of Alps, and their method of tactility (which I think you were heavily alluding to in your video, Chyros). Interesting how they have the two different methods of tactility-...

I have a friend who works for a telecom firm, and he has been able to get his hands on a whole bunch of great vintage electronics. He's had a few finds of great Model M's (1390131), which seem to be just growing on trees (or server racks). He's also big in the community, but is generally less intere...
