Re: BOX switches STILL cracking keycaps!
On geekhack there is ample consensus that retooled box switches still crack gmk or OG keycaps. "all keycaps right away audibly crack on first insertion. I notified KBDfans about the problem, they said they will take it to Kailh.. (again..)." https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=96323.400 Jesus Chri...

Re: Cherry appreciation topic
Once I am done with some stuff, I will post my Honeywell branded G80-0528. Well, it's not actually a G80-0528, it's a different model number on the PCB. IMG_20190228_142914.jpg I have a NCR branded one with the model number 0427 internally My board has icon mods only while they usually have vertica...

You can find vintage cherry caps for cheap, a user here has some. or if you need more you could get a gmk set like this https://www.originativeco.com/products/classic-retro

Re: What made laptop manufacturer think it okay to use a chiclet key!
Thinness is one of the most important factors of laptops. Boomers will disagree and use their heavy chunky laptops on their legs. But I feel like whatever makes a laptop thinner is the right step to go to. I don't enjoy chic keys but if the laptop is light and thin then I don't care about missing so...

Laptop makers need to start using the cherry lp switches... They have great potential, and shouldn't make the board too thick.

Re: What's Wrong with a Thrift Shop?
That true, but I lived in the US and I still cannot find any Northgate Omnikey. If I do then I would keep it until I die. In other hand, Cherry G80-1000 is so rare in the US! I wish it were the other way around... I want more cherry stuff but being in America sucks for cherry stuff compared to Alps

The Kishsaver is the kind of board you’ll second think about moving around your desk, let alone to another location! You mentioned Chyros’s’ vids. Go check out his Model F reviews. Hopefully he has a side by side compare with Model M. Similar names, similar origin, but whole ‘nother level of buckli...

Re: Please help me choose a keyboard after my unicomp model m
I’ve grown to using more shortcuts over the years, but it’s not because I’m getting slower, I prefer to think I’m just still learning! As for a board suggestion: well, Topre is superbly tactile, modern layout, elegant aesthetic, and available. I’ve noticed zero hysteresis speed bumps. And you can d...

I'd recommended Leopold keyboards as always. Well built and great quality keycaps. Dunno about switches. You said you don't like Browns so I can't help you there

I would be interested to see if people can tell what switches and keyboards they are typing on while blindfolded, or also with some noise canceling headphones on, just by feel. (A friend could swap out keyboards). A lot of it would be revealed by the size and shape and other things of that board, b...

I think the Model M have the most durable membrane mat of all. A1048 are really good but I have to agree that it can collect dust easily but it can also be scratched easily. yes, it might still be mushy compare to a scropius but it not so bad compare to a cheap dell keyboard. - But again Topre Real...
