Re: Model F Spring Buckling Issue
I've tried swapping keycaps, no change, same switch has the issue. I have taken it apart to try and resolve this issue, but I didn't think of changing the the location of the barrels. Being with how hard it was to get back together I don't know if I'm ready to do that just yet. Here's a video of th...

Re: Designing an injection machine for keyboard science
Hi, Rambling thoughts. For the press. Maybe there is some off the shelf cylinder part like, car brakes, general purpose hydraulic cylinder or something that is metal with good tolerances for the pressing part. Not sure if it sold and obviously expensive but I remember this device. https://www.techk...

Re: Monterey K2AX - Matroshka of Surprises
I don't have any keyboard with that switches, but I always suspected that pre problem is the size itself, they are so tiny that when you press a key just a tiny bit off-center the slider may get stuck and can't mechanically convert the actual diagonal force into linear. Just imagine that you have a ...

Designing an injection machine for keyboard science
Hello guys. As some of you know I'm working in a very complex keyboard project, where I'm forced to work with custom parts. For a finished product 3D printing or CNC is not even an option, so I'm trying to make my way into injection moulding, but as you may know, that's EXPENSIVE AS FUCK. So far I d...

Re: [IC] Funny Adapters! Alps to Cherry MX adapters
Welcome to DT! You did an awesome work with the adapters. I'm sure that at least you can do a GB. The AEK is not the best candidate as the keycaps are stepped by the stems and not by the body itself, so I think I'll stay out. The custom Alps market is still very promising for such a thing like this....

Re: Xiaomi Yuemi MK03C keyboard review (TTC MT hybrid clickbar switch)
It's appropriate! Earlier this year, spyware had been found in a web-browser pre-installed on Xiaomi's cell phones. I wonder what's the difference with Android, Google, Windows, etc, sending very convenient announces of something I was talking about. Yeah, it sucks, but is not that uncommon in the ...

Re: [UK] WTS IBM 4890 "F127" keyboard
Weird. Theoretically you could mod any 122 into a 127 no? It actually has a different barrel plate! I used to own one. Mine has the same barrel plate, I'm using a extended numpad right now. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/555514970033618958/569234739496484914/IMG_20190420_150221.jpg?width=...

Re: Do I need to screw mod my Model M?
Yeah, I've seen some people get rid of the mat entirely, which probably is just as good if not better than the thin latex mat. Though I have seen some concerns insofar as to whether or not it reduces the lifespan of the membrane. I'm not sure how valid those concerns are. As far as where you can ge...

Re: Do I need to screw mod my Model M?
It's a very simple process, even someone as clumsy as me was able to do one with the encouragement of the users here. I think the best part of doing a bolt mod -- aside from making the board more serviceable -- is the opportunity to replace the thick rubber mat with a thin latex mat from Unicomp, a...

You can just cut the borders of the plate (where is meant to be mounted originally) and and some nuts and bolts in between, looking for an specific place where your PCB has no traces. Re: OG M0110 + White Alps?
Why not just remove the borders? What do you plan to do with the keycaps? What borders do you mean? Yes one way I can make this project work is to make the opening of the top case larger so it fits a regular 60% pcb. Should I just sand it down? Not sure how to work with plastic. What's exactly the ...

Fact checking: Are Alps SKCC and SKCM/SKCL springs interchangeable?
So, are both interchangeable? Is there any source of Alps springs? My M110A is a great keyboard but the switches are heavy, I mean, HEAVY. They're in fact Mitsumi made, but should work too.

Re: OG M0110 + White Alps?
I think (can't confirm) the footprint may not be exactly the same. You can for sure use the same PCB as the pin management is the same. Did you considered swapping the springs instead? I know they are heavy, but they feel quite nice.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
This keyboard was found in an industrial setting (as evidenced by its cleanliness). My girlfriend saw it and instantly knew I'd be interested in it, but she wasn't allowed to touch or pull caps. I thought Unikey/Chicony initially, but the AEKII-like profile, relegendable caps, and the position of t...

I have the exact same keyboard except is rebranded by an unknown company. It worked well with a Soarer for almost a year and then died. Quite sad, the switches are great but the quality of the case is awful.

Re: Space Invader switch Binding
Maybe the Y shapped clickers are interfering with the switch. I linearized my NMB battleship because the keys were constantly getting stuck or binding, if you want to make it at least usable try removing them.

Re: Questions on M0110A made in Ireland
If it feels good should be cream SKCC's from Alps or the first generation Mitsumi switches, which are almost identical. At least in mine with Mitsumi switches, the housings and the sliders are plain white, so that's a good indicator. Some keyboards from Taiwan I think, come with SMK vintage linears,...

I was only 11 years old. It was a winter saturday and I decided to play some games after taking my morning matecocido (a sort of tea). Sorry for the delay. I don't really know what kind of glue should be better. And for the conversion of my 3178 I'm still in the hardware part as I find a way to make it cleaner. I'll tell you my experiences with DMA's masterpiece when it's done.
