Re: Alps Appreciation
Theoretically, could they fit if you cut down/made a smaller plastic piece?

Does anyone know, if Brown ALPS tactile leaves fit in other ALPS housings?

Re: Alps Appreciation
I game and do homework on my Yellow Alps 60% keyboard. It goes in my backpack everywhere.
Some of the slits have broken off from multiple falls, I use it pretty heavily but it works.

Re: ALPS and POM vs. nylon sliders
I, for one, appreciate your determination. Sure, some people here have their own... uhm... hidden interests, but you need to try detecting useful feedback. Look at how much time it took for the replica of the much more simpler buckling spring switches... When we're talking masterpieces, first try t...

Re: ALPS and POM vs. nylon sliders
The thing is we have to make a new mold for every material we want to use, due to the expansion properties of different plastics. I'm definitely not making any final decisions yet but thanks for the tip. We are definitely going to try to make these as accurate as possible but consider possible impro...

ALPS and POM vs. nylon sliders
Ok, I have decided to ignore all hate comments and continue exploring ideas for my Blue ALPS project. Anyways, from the results of acetone tests, traditional ALPS most likely used an all-nylon housing and slider. I am currently getting the plastics properly analyzed by my manufacturers engineering t...
Re: Goodbye
I didn't have the 110 to replace your original ones, I had only ~70 after I shipped yours and decided to make 1 last keyboard with them, but only after I asked if you wanted a refund and you said you did not need one. I did not offer the 70 switches because it would have been pointless since you wan...
Re: Blue Alps Comeback phase II discussion
I refunded you and offered to refund you in the past. Also I didn't have the 110 you asked for, only 70 or so. I think I'm just going to delete my account now. You did NOT refund me, nor offer me a set of switches to replace the ones you supposedly sent, but had no tracking number for. Do I need to...
Re: Goodbye
Your right, it's my fault. I'm just going to leave for now, I'd be better working on my own anyways.
Re: Blue Alps Comeback phase II discussion
That is my own opinion of them (tactility wise at least), and they are not an exact copy of Alps at all. I clearly linked wiki pages of them so people knew what they were getting. ...or not getting, as the case may be. Funny you didn't have enough switches to fill the orders, but you had enough to ...
Re: Blue Alps Comeback phase II discussion
It's kind of my fault, I say too much and people think I'm mean or have ill intent. I'll probably hand this project to someone else or put it on hold for a while.
Re: Blue Alps Comeback phase II discussion
No one that built OG Alps is alive/can be found anymore. The best thing to do is copy the work they left behind. Wait a minute... but I thought newly manufactured AK-CN2 switches™ were just as good? If not better? A savvy, steadfast user on this very forum tried to bring them to us unwashed masses ...
Re: Blue Alps Comeback phase II discussion
And what's even scarier is how you're handling the funding, you're choosing a site over an other because you're not allowed to have any proof of concept upfront ? That's outright scamming practices. Proof of concepts already exist. They are the remaining Alps. A prototype isn't needed since it alre...

I literally bought Blue Alps just for this project.//gainsborough wrote: ↑10 Jan 2020, 03:38Having a severe lack of knowledge for what you actually want to reproduce is a red flag for me.
Re: Blue Alps Comeback phase II discussion
Please actually listen to the others in this thread, your priorities are all out of wack. Why are you discussing funding when you aren't even aware of the slider material? (It is POM, as with most sliders) If the people you're "tasking it with know what they are doing" surely they would know this. ...
Re: Blue Alps Comeback phase II discussion
I think I'll switch to Indiegogo since it seems more suited to this type of project, more flexible funding and no initial prototype needed. It's still months off before that part of the project. Right now were actually exploring what plastics to use, what's the general consensus on old Alps switch c...
Re: Blue Alps Kickstarter and prototype Discussion
The reason I want to make complete switches is because I want to potentially get OEMs on board.
@myoth Very gross and immature of you.

Re: Blue Alps Kickstarter Discussion
You don't know how to design switches and your GB for alps clones wasn't ran very well. There's absolutely no reason for anyone to think that you are capable of doing this successfully. Maybe if you had a prototype or had designed switches before, but when you don't know basic stuff like how to mak...

How am I supposed to mold them before the molds are made? Resin 3D printing perhaps?Findecanor wrote: ↑09 Jan 2020, 11:21Not only that. Kickstarter requires a working prototype before starting your campaign.
Anyone prototyped switches before?

Re: Xwhatsit controller for IBM Model F XT
It could be bad caps.
The first thing to blame on old electronics not working is often electrolytic caps. Even worse since this is capacitive sensing in itself.

Compact Alps TKL Help Needed
Here is my idea for a compact Alps TKL keyboard-layout.png It's going to be a sandwich acrylic or wooden case, and I know how to use swill plate builder mostly, but what kind of fasteners and acrylic thicknesses do people usually use? (not making the plate acrylic, that will be 1.2mm FR-4) Also what...

Re: Is there something like Deskthority for mobile phones?
I didn't, I had the idea because I was disappointed that the 2019 version was nothing like the original, the only modern Android flip phone is the Uniwa F108L which is virtually impossible to get unless you order 3000 pieces or more.

Re: daskeyboard product management
I appreciate the classic styling of the AT101 series as well but it's not quite the aesthetic we're after. Full sized, sure, but with cleaner lines (not a curve on the side) and narrower bezels (not a giant forehead). Tai-Hao caps are pretty pricey for what you get. The daskeyboard font may be a bi...

Re: Is there something like Deskthority for mobile phones?
Yeah, I had an idea to make a new Android mainboard for the original Motorola Razr but after some research it's above my budget right now. I need to focus back on the Blue Alps kickstarter first.

Re: daskeyboard product management
Make a board like the Dell AT101 but with Tai-Hao doubleshot keycaps, with both an Alps clone and MX versions. No backlight just a basic good keyboard design. You can have a budget version with a plastic plate all the way up to higher end with stainless steel plate and wireless models. Also a TKL ve...
