I have had a very similar problem when replacing the controller of my olympia people keyboard, where I soldered in a switch in wrong orientation after cleaning it, causing its internal jumper to connect a row to all columns. Due to my board not having diodes, every key in that row suffered from the ...

Quick update on the state of the restoration; case and keycaps are fully cleaned, metal stem inserts are pulled from the switches (luckily without any breakage!) and they were fully disassembled. Today the 2nd batch of housings is being ultrasonically cleaned, unfortunaly the foam is in worse condit...

Potter Instrument KDR/KB 3100A (Micro Switch 51RW1-2)
While procrastinating the restoration of the IBM 4978 due to the mental and physical pain caused by removing the especially tight metal stem inserts, I got this keyboard with the help of a community member: A 1970 Micro Switch magnetic reed keyboard, possibly made for a key punch or early terminal. ...

The seller's picture is too lousy to tell for sure, but that's a fairly good match given all the jpeg grain. Well, ugh, the more I look the less I'm sure. Why can't images be infinitely detailed like in the movies! Looks more like this at first glance: switch.jpg I'm thinking it's perhaps an Alps i...

I have created an album of some pictures of Series/1 internals on flickr here . that's fucking beautiful. how big is it in comparison to a regular Battleship? It's slightly less wide and slightly deeper, the key density is pretty good for beamspring standards: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1782/428...

Restoring&Converting the IBM 4978 Beamship
I recently purchased a working IBM Series/1 system with a 4978 Display Terminal. Due to greater familiarity, the first thing I want to do is to restore the keyboard and convert it to USB in an easily reversible manner, so that I can continue to use it for its original purpose. When I opened the keyb...
