Re: House mites (Glycyphagus domesticus) - Anyone else had them?
When I was a kid I lived in a street where at some point there was an infestation of pharaoh ants. They're very tiny and get absolutely EVERYWHERE, even in things with closed lids, like jam jars. There wasn't a meal we ate that didn't have ants in it, they even got into your drinks. The council had...

Stay true to the beige and brown! I love noctua and how they do business. They refused flat out to do blacked out coolers until they could work out a way to not loose performance from raw nickle plated copper.

Re: Alps restoration guide
Not surprised a rosewill product is worse than toohpaste.
Myself i use thermal grizzly ( the paste not the liquid metal) for my high end stuff, and GD-900 from china for lower end stuff/ work, that stuff is as good as MX-4 but you can get about half a ton of it for the price of a tube of MX-4

I have done that with IPA a few times before installing the CPU .
You would be surprised how may so called "dead" boards come to life after that.
Re: DZ60 pcb
Try to get 60/40 leaded solder if you can, it much easier for inexperienced users as it flows much better and at a lower temp. ( honestly everyone should use leadded, the joints are less likely to fail due to mechanical stress ) Unfortunately, there is recent EU regulation (March 2018) that restric...

I'm also aware that the ears on the UPS don't line up: mainly as its support thingies are too long to fit between the mounting rails, so I've had to sit it on a shelf instead. I hadn't noticed until I took the picture and now it's irritating me. I wish i had space for a rack. I just have a cheap li...
Re: DZ60 pcb
Keyboards work in a matrix So a fault on one switch can cause problems for other in that part of the matrix. Chances are that one of the pads that you solder the pins from the switch into has been lifted this can happen on lower quality PCBs when using a soldering iron with poor temperature control....

Even with all services turned off, your exact location can be determined at all times. That's one of the things that freaks me out. Triangulate via cell towers yes. GPS is disabled. We are that tracked in the UK by CCTV and now bloody facial recognition cameras ( without the consent of the people) ...

Wow. I'm a bit out of touch with "modern society" (...being an insane retired hermit living on an island...) but this mandatory mobile phone crap will probably affect me eventually. I'm going to hold out against this crap as long as I can. I use a mobile but all services are turned off for every ap...

Two separate phenomena back then, but not now. it was a problem back then too, simply they didn't manage to put a tracking device in the pocket of every person back then. Now they have. And people willingly install listening devices in there own home that listen to there every word. So called "smar...

I can throw some draft threads together. What topics do we want to go for this year. Lets try to get a few prizes tho for the big ones. I was thinking we should make this more about the community rather than products. Any prize does not need to be big but i think it should be related to the area the...

Re: My daily driver stopped working 50%
Chances are its a faulty connector. I cannot be sure but that looks like mini USB to me ( not micro) THE WORST usb connector, they fail all the time. Back when i supported blackberry phones ( back to the super old blue ones ) it was ALWAYS the mini USB that failed.
