Re: Tactile Board Suggestions
BTC dome with silders. These were louder than the others from my experience. Plus, I personally found them too light. The MX compatibility is a bonus if that’s something you care about. MX compatibility is only partial on my BTC 5140. Stabilisers are different. Maybe some other model is more compat...

Re: Darmoshark M3 Mouse is in pre-order
So, it is a wireless gaming mouse. What is supposed to make it special, and stand-out compared to the competition?
I see the specs lacks mention of Bluetooth version.
I hope there has been some thought to the sensor vs grip position and weight distribution.

Re: Keyboard Tinker Work Bench Gallery
I've got an old battered kitchen table propped up in my bedroom, which is always full of various stuff: most often shoe boxes of tools and materials. Some people would call me a hoarder, but I do get rid of stuff that I don't find useful. I just need something like a separate hobby room or garage fo...

Re: Is it difficult to convert an Apple Keyboard to Cherry MX?
M0110/M0110A: Has been done. Both one-off builds and a small run PCBs I think. There’s something special about the M0110 that keeps on drawing projects. Just today someone posted this : That's not actually a real M0110, but a new custom keyboard made to resemble the original. If you look closely, y...

Re: Is it difficult to convert an Apple Keyboard to Cherry MX?
M0115/M0116: Practically impossible. The Alps switches are sitting very low inside. A Cherry MX switch needs more room for its pins. The keycaps are also especially made to follow the curvature of the case. If you'd try putting OEM-profile ALPS keycaps on switches in an vintage mechanical Apple keyb...

Re: Fujitsu FM Towns FMT-KB205 review (Fujitsu leaf spring 3rd generation)
Apparently, Fujitsu carried the layout with the bi-coloured alphanumeric keys from the Fujitsu OASYS 100G Word Processor (1982). It's predecessor the OASYS 100 had the thumb-shift keys and cursor key arrangement but not bi-coloured alpha keys (or numeric keyboard). 0005_01_l.jpg Otherwise, I have se...

Re: Fujitsu FM Towns FMT-KB205 review (Fujitsu leaf spring 3rd generation)
The Canon Cat always impressed me. Were there ever any other iterations of the "leap" system later on? Dunno about follow-ups, but there were predecessors. Apparently, the system had originally been prototyped at Apple ... intended to become the "Macintosh" before Jobs took over from Jef Raskin and...

Re: Two-part MX keycap idea
Has anything like this been attempted before? Sort of. Relegendable keycaps that are MX-compatible exist, made for cash-registers. Including full alphanumeric keyboards. The Tipro MID is especially low-profile. But all of them are uniprofile. Most are flat. I don't think any of them are very nice t...

Re: What if Buckling Springs were made into an MX form?
What is "MX form"? Form factor of the switch? MX keycaps? Compatibility with PCBs? ...with plates? I think a Model M switch module that is pin-compatible with Cherry MX PCBs could be possible, unless the flipper extends too much outside the switch's area. It would need IBM/Unicomp keycaps and still ...

There's an article in the Wiki about the BTC also.
It should have foam-and-foil switches. I hope the foam is in good shape: there are many examples of foam-and-foil keyboards where the foam has crumbled with age.

Re: Why Doesn't Topre Make Double-shot Keycaps?
It is possible to doubleshot-mould PBT. There are some "Doubleshot PBT" sets available for Cherry MX but those aren't pure PBT but one shot of PBT and the other shot of a less durable plastic such as ABS. Matt30 and GMK are working on proper doubleshot PBT (where both shots are PBT) for release next...

Cherry MX Blue. The feel is so slow and scratchy. Not to mention the tactility. Compared to some of the other clones, I can just feel my heart breaking on the inside with disappointment when I press just one key. Vintage MX blues are not as bad. Maybe newer ones can be broken in to become smo...

Find if there's an article on the corresponding WYSE model in the Wiki.
If so, then add a mention in that article about the ULTIMATE-branded variation. Images are also appreciated.

Click on upstroke only? That's bad.
After 2018, the worst key switch I've tried, I don't know if it was a linear RAFI or Siemens STB or something similar, which had a scratchiness that felt like touching something electrified when you pressed it.

Re: Gasket mount keyboards vs plate mount
I think it has to do with bottoming out and with linear switches, you will be doing that a lot. Considering most popular modern switches are linear, having something to "cushion" a heavy bottom out when you are typing too hard on linears, might reduce fatigue a bit. However any kind of sponginess o...

Unbranded "Anker" ergonomic mouse
So... I picked up a semi-vertical "ergonomic mouse" on an auction site. It looks exactly like what is more known around here as an "Anker" vertical mouse, except that it has absolutely no identifying markings: no brand, no FCC ID, no user manual. Came in a plain brown box with only "Ergonomic mouse"...

Re: Gasket mount keyboards vs plate mount
Eh... OK... I thought that "gasket mount" meant that the plate was mounted with some foam or rubber in-between the plate and the case. Thereby, a gasket mount is a type of plate mount.

Re: Converting G80-11900 Touchboard to bluetooth?
There exist Bluetooth adaptors for keyboards, but I dunno if they support both keyboard and trackpad. Too bad that you got a PS/2 keyboard: there are USB versions of the G80-11900 also.If you don't have one of those then you'd also need to also put a PS/2-to-USB converter in there. Know also that th...

Oh, I just remembered one more thing why both Shift-keys is bad as a universal shortcut: Pinball games on the PC often use left and right Shift keys to control the left and right flippers — and flipping both flippers is something you do often.

The images on the page show two different switches of each type.
Are the switches with cylindrical "stem shrouds" the final ones?
Force curves? What other switches are the tactile switches most like? (browns, ergo clears, pandas?)
