The EU cursed us all the way in the US with ROHS and Article 13.
Screw them. If I lived in the UK I'd vote to leave.

Is there something like Deskthority for mobile phones?
I like old cell phones probably just as much as old keyboards and computers.
Does anyone know of a forum like Deskthority but for cell phones? Does anyone else here share this interest?

Re: How do you make a decent typing video?
I actually like this style of video better than the ones from the big keyboard channels like the one below, those feel too "sterile" to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaK8fdwGHDY Chyrosran22 still kind of has that "small tech YouTuber" aesthetic to his videos which I like even though the qualit...

Would be interesting if it were true but they outright stole the photo from a 2016 post.

Re: 65% Model F – Open Group Build
SMD pats are easy enough if you have a good temperature-controlled soldering station and use leaded solder.
Amtech 60/40 is my favorite.
Allthough I still like the extra robustness through hole connectors provide. Which is why I used a through-hole connector on the customized Alps64 I modded.

I was lucky to get some super-early Blue Alps for my project, they are so old that the contacts are epoxied into the bottom shell.

Is this real? Focus with Amber Alps
I've been contacting recyclers to see if I could find any junked Alps keyboards and one of them sent me this photo of a Focus with Orange/Amber Alps, could Focuses actually come with these or is this just a community project they found photos of? I don't want to be conned into buying rubber domes so...

Keyboard IC Discussion Thread
I am interested in making some keyboards that work natively over PS/2. Has anyone here used a controller like the HT82K629A to do it? Does it support NKRO? How hard is it to program?

AEK keycaps suck.
Why does anyone like these? If you look at them they break. One cap broke off during shipping a board (despite being thickly bubble wrapped) another broke off during cleaning and I dropped some on the ground by accident and several more broke. Of course I could glue them but that means several more ...

Unfortunately, the idiots at KeyTronic decided not to use standard spacing between the numpad, navcluster, and alphablock so they are all slightly offset from each other. What I'm going to do is cut the PCBs into 3 and wire them all together. It still should be pretty stable since I put standoffs i...

Re: Out with the old, in with the new.
By the way, does anyone know how to reliably measure keyboard chassises?
I don't want to mess up my multimedia Gateway Alps board project like this one (especially since that one will need a plate as well as a PCB)

Same with Futaba switches.
