I have been very intrigued in the "home-made" PCB process, for a while now. The main thing holding me back, is learning CAD. Something that I plan to do but haven't yet. If you get the design working, then I will order up some switches and diodes and try my hand at a PCB as well. Any reason for the ...

Re: Group Build prototyping phase
That's good. I love the idea of the home made PCB. Really want to try my hand at it myself, but I need to wrap my head around CAD first.

Re: Group Build prototyping phase
Sounds great! Really excited to see how all the designs fair. By the way, I forgot, are we getting printed PCBs from somewhere, or are you going to make them yourself?

Very nice post! I really do love Ergo-Clears. I have been using 62g Clears, almost exclusively for the past 6 months or so. I really do want to give 65g springs a try again. When I was first testing a bunch of different springs, I really settled on 62g, but I have heard many people really prefer 65g...

Is that company who was interested in starting with a numpad GB, still in the picture? Would they give you any support on the prototype phase, or are they leaving the design and all of that up to you? My job situation might be getting better soon so I am definitely down for a full set, and shooting ...

Even if the plate itself isn't mounted to the case, it should distribute forces more evenly across the PCB by spreading them over several switches. The result should be a feel between traditional plate mount and PCB mount. Plus what he said! Any problems with those Poker cases and my shiny layout? ...

I love where the case ideas are going. They look great. http://c804221.r21.cf2.rackcdn.com/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/m/o/moo-mf105m-w_3.jpg It's all about the knobs… Now I have to figure out what excuse to use to throw some of those into my next custom. A rotary...

PS: wiki page is up: [wiki]Oak Full-Travel Membrane[/wiki] Also listed on [wiki]Generic cross mount recognition[/wiki] and [wiki]Other mount recognition[/wiki]. Awesome! Yeah, I want to like it, but it just isn't pleasant. Reds really are excellent linear switches. Progressive rate sounds like a go...

unfortunately I couldn't find it, but I believe it's just a plate of bare aluminum or possibly steel Then thats actually pretty damn similar to what we're trying to do. I do really like the idea of the slots in the wood and alu to fit everything together. Then we wouldn't have a bunch of screws or ...

Alu is very light. we might still want to add some weight. Maybe the bottom could be steel instead of wood. I don't know, maybe it is not needed. Have a look at these http://www.moogmusic.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/730x490scale/product/Moogerfooger_MF-105M_MIDI%20murf_3_0.jpg http://cdn.mos...

This could look like an old vintage synthesizer, like a Moog or something... But only if the would is too big/fat on both sides. http://666kb.com/i/co1i8qh1panpo91x3.png Love this. Black anodized aluminum and wood, would look just awesome. Now how much weight would the aluminum/steel add, and with ...

Darker colored woods actually look pretty cool with the darker colored edges. Those boxes are not made from the same type of plywood and just stained differently? End faces of wood get darker from wood stain than side faces. The darker boxes in that picture would therefore have dark edges even if t...

I mean that the slot for the plate has to be CNC'd. I don't see any other way of doing it. If the wood if treated well after the laser cut you get a very nice result Oh right... Gotcha. Well, if this design is possible, and other people are interested, and its cost efficient, and doesn't screw with...

problem is that they have to be CNC'd... Hm, well honestly the whole idea of the case, is enough for me to look past the dark edges. What about different types of wood by the way? Darker colored woods actually look pretty cool with the darker colored edges. Not sure what kind of price difference th...
