I have been very intrigued in the "home-made" PCB process, for a while now. The main thing holding me back, is learning CAD. Something that I plan to do but haven't yet. If you get the design working, then I will order up some switches and diodes and try my hand at a PCB as well. Any reason for the ...

So the first run is basically just going to be a prototyping run, for the current case, plate, and PCB designs? Then the second will be those same designs, with any imperfections ironed out? Or is the first run actually going to be pretty different then the second?

Oh yeah, the scratch definitely looks like chipped paint on metal. Nice catch.

That's good. I love the idea of the home made PCB. Really want to try my hand at it myself, but I need to wrap my head around CAD first.

Sounds great! Really excited to see how all the designs fair. By the way, I forgot, are we getting printed PCBs from somewhere, or are you going to make them yourself?

Very nice post! I really do love Ergo-Clears. I have been using 62g Clears, almost exclusively for the past 6 months or so. I really do want to give 65g springs a try again. When I was first testing a bunch of different springs, I really settled on 62g, but I have heard many people really prefer 65g...

Is that company who was interested in starting with a numpad GB, still in the picture? Would they give you any support on the prototype phase, or are they leaving the design and all of that up to you? Speaking of key caps, the way that this is going, I assume it would be a good idea (now that 7bit has returned) to add a bunch of space bar options from whats left of Round 5?

I am really liking the stab-less ideas by the way.

So when it comes to fitting in the Teensy, are we talking finding somewhere to fit it on the PCB, or in the case itself, or do we need to worry about both?

Even if the plate itself isn't mounted to the case, it should distribute forces more evenly across the PCB by spreading them over several switches. The result should be a feel between traditional plate mount and PCB mount. Plus what he said! Any problems with those Poker cases and my shiny layout? ...

Alu is very light. we might still want to add some weight. Maybe the bottom could be steel instead of wood. I don't know, maybe it is not needed. I mean that the slot for the plate has to be CNC'd. I don't see any other way of doing it. If the wood if treated well after the laser cut you get a very nice result Oh right... Gotcha.
