Re: Looking for a plastic case for an IBM Model F XT.
Hi, How nice! Thank you! I'd appreciate it greatly if you could ask for me. I'll look forward to hearing from you. I asked Clicky a few months ago about Model Fs, but it seems they don't sell them now. Only Model M. Perhaps they have a few Model F XT cases lying around. I asked the seller, I'll tel...

Re: IBM Model F key gets a bit stuck
Also, the local seller is not responding to me for some reason. Any suggestions to get a flipper? An original one from another F XT if possible. I'm thinking on getting one of those Keychains and get the flipper from there..

Re: IBM Model F key gets a bit stuck
Well the key was just fine when I put the keyboard together again, and over time it started sounding and feeling weird. I don't know why that happened. However, i taught that maybe the spring was not properly attached to the flipper so I pushed it down a little with the aid of a toothpick and that's...

Re: Looking for a plastic case for an IBM Model F XT.
I might be able to help. There's a seller in Spanish 2nd hand portal Wallapop that sells parts for Model F. I can ask how much would it be and then send to you the case, I don't mind doing it for you. Here's the link to the ad: https://es.wallapop.com/item/teclas-sueltas-con-muelle-de-teclado-ibm-mo...

Re: IBM Model F key gets a bit stuck
Ok, I tried to push the spring and the switch broke in 2 parts. I think this has been my fault. This stinks. Found a local seller that sells switches from a model F, I'll get one an... that's it. I just want to forget this happened. Stupid switch
24 euros is this going to cost me.

Here the photos in high resolution of the switch.
The faulty one is the corresponding to the 2 on the numpad, that is, the one in the middle of the top three.

Re: IBM Model F key gets a bit stuck
I posted a few steps how to hold the keyboard when pressing keycaps on . I have had similar keys like yours where a key would make an unsatisfying "ploink" sound and where it would feel weird. Just removing the keycap and putting it back on in a specific way solved the issue. Tried that but still n...

IBM Model F key gets a bit stuck
Hello everyone, I have a small issue with my IBM Model F XT that I restored not long ago. I did a full restoration, took it apart completely, removed all dust and rust, repainetd, new foam and put it back together again and it was perfectly fine, but then after a month or so this key started behavin...

Re: Tried ALPS for the first time
My first ALPS was my beloved Northgate Omnikey 101 I imported from USA. Almost NOS, it feels amazing. Even more considering my previous keyboard was... the one in my laptop and a Genius crap thing. Ever since, I got myself a Monterey KBD 104 that was in poor condition and restored it. Still not at 1...

Restoration 1986 Olivetti ANK 1924 & ask for advice
Soooo... I guess I was lucky as hell. I went to one of those street markets and found this dirty boy. Already cleaned the keycaps, they look amazing, almost no tear nor wear. Also opened the keyboard to see what we got there (as you can see in the photos). I'll keep you updated with the restoration ...

Re: Dead? Olivetti KBD 2812
Well just a little update, I replaced both ceramic capacitors since they were shorted. The new ones didn't made the trick, wich make sense since it seems like this board suffered an overvoltage at some point and presumably not only damaged the caps but also the main controller itself. Also, I though...

Re: Is it possible to make and omnikey ultra with a detachable ps2 cable fully programable?
my buddy and I recently starting reprogramming our IBM keyboard because of the soarers converters, but he has more useless keys than me because he has one of the m122 models where I just have a standard model M and F. But my Omnikey has a bunch of keys that I will never use, is there a way (easiest...

Dead? Olivetti KBD 2812
So, if some time ago I kind of complain that here in Spain is quite a night mare to find any mechanical keyboard (that's when I bought my beloved and fantastic Northgate Omnikey 101), today out of the blue, came a friend of mine and gave me an Olivetti KDB 2812 manufactured by Cherry and with Cherry...

Re: Learning to touch-type properly
3) I now realise just how insane the QWERTY layout really is. The majority of commonly used letters are typed with the left hand, all the vowels except A are not on the home row, and some of the most-frequently used letters (such as P or A) are under pinkies! The worst problem for me is that I cann...

Re: Tell me about your experience with dome boards
The worst rubber dome keyboard I've typed on is probably the one my university has in its so-called IT labs. It was one like this: http://i.imgur.com/9h0FlzV.jpg It felt like real crap and I really hated the very little noise it make. Another one I really hated was a cheap Microsoft keyboard, all ke...

Re: Alps keyboard: Matias, Custom or Ebay??
Thanks for the advice mate, but since I use Linux SharpKeys won't do it for me, but as said, thanks anyway. Today I still haven't got the time for setting up everything, but probably I'll use Xmodmap for remapping the keys, and later I'll see how does KDE work with multiple layout distributions, mac...

Little update, today I received the keyboard. Very clean, looks almost like brand new, no yellow anywhere and feels & sounds amazing! Re: Alps keyboard: Matias, Custom or Ebay??
Well, afer reading everybody's feedback, I decided to spend more money and get myself a Northgate Omnikey 101 with White SKCM Alps. I almost bought a Focus FK2001 but because of the construction quality, I went for the Northgate. Now just wait for it to arrive... Thanks everyone!

Re: Alps keyboard: Matias, Custom or Ebay??
The Tactile Pro is expensive for what it is. What about the KBParadise V80 plus a Planck-style "ortholinar" kit to add a few dozen extra keys? Maybe, looks like one of the bests options given how expensive it get to import a keyboard form ebay that comes from other country... Ends up very overpriced.

Yep... I'm actully from Valencia and the only mechanical keyboards you can find are some pretty expensive or pretty damaged IBM M series and some Acer 6312-TW or similar. Nothing at recycling centers. Import, new or rubber dome

Alps keyboard: Matias, Custom or Ebay??
So after a lot of research, I'm about buying a clicky alps (or the closest possible) keyboard at a fair price. I've around 150€ (167.93$) to spend, and going to use the keyboard for coding (aka typing the lines that doesn't compile at StackOverflow ;) ). My question is, do I get a Matias Tactile Pro...
