Re: What's your piece of keyboard unobanium?
I don't think acers sound or feel any worse than MX Blue and respective clones. Not a high bar, I know, but some people actually like that.

Re: Experience with Silitek Dome w/ Slider
Yes, I have multiple keyboards with them (two different models). I like the feel; it has a neat little bump, actuates and then there's very strongly dampened, optional bottoming out. Sort of reminiscent of Cherry MX Clear, but softer and subtler. The keycaps should be DCS profile. If they're old eno...

Re: Linux DAC USB headphones+mic+speakers suggestions?
I have been interested in the same thing. The "better" mainstream consumer options are just Asus Xonar and Creative Sound Blaster. Sadly, both tend to have problems in Linux, usually with volume control. Just below that, there are plenty of USB sound cards with C-Media chips. Linux support is fine, ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
There's this ad : ACS (Alpha Computer Systeme)-branded Key Tronic E03623ELGRKTC-C (105key German layout, DIN5 connector) with "Key Tronic MPR II-KEY" on the spacebar. It's quite clear what keyboard it is (another CIGE03600W), I'm just curious what the "Key Tronic MPR II-KEY" on the spacebar means. I...

Re: [WTB] Trackball curious
Have you read through the mice & co. subforum? I posted this back in '19 and recommend reading different opinions. There haven't been that many releases since then: a couple of kensingtons and run-of-the-mill thumb trackballs… and Ploopy. The [CST] wheel and button are wide. They're as wide as three...

I'm trying to id a four-tab Alps-clone switch found in an Ortek MCK-101SX. It's clicky, has four tabs and a light-green slider; majority of mould numbers have "IF xx" format in north position.

Some of it looks very similar to IBM ANPOS keyboard which has buckling rubber sleeves for key mechanism (similar to Mitsumi hybrid switch).

Is Focus FK-8000 (w/ some Alps clones) in a rough shape worth any attention?
I imagine the only attraction is the calculator, if someone can make it work, but I could be wrong.

FYI some Silitek rubber domes (models with 4100 or 8801 in the codename) had early DCS keycaps.

I'm not sure if I have the exact same model, but mine are sort of low-profile spring over membrane, very quiet, with the PBT keycaps having an interesting texture and blurry dyesub legends.

In this case we need a standardized test (which website?) and the same text for all (except people who speak another first language obviously :-)) This is exactly how they ended up with the Olympics! XD Meanwhile, there's this organization called Intersteno that has been doing typing competitions f...

That doesn't explain new-old-stock keyboards.Ilostmytoeinvietnam wrote: ↑05 Oct 2020, 18:35the only reason that vintage blacks are so highly praised is because they are vintage, and have been used a lot.

I should have quite a few sets from Chicony and other OEM keyboards. Some could be doubleshots. Probably big-ass Enter, though.
