Re: USB to PS/2 + Soarer's Converter?
Hasu makes a USB to USB converter which runs TMK and I believe that it is actually two separate arduinos put together, so it can't run on a single arduino unfortunately. The USB to USB converters I have really only work if the board can support PS/2 output through a USB plug, so really it's just a P...

I haven't really ever built a custom ALPS board, but where does one reliably source Costar stabilizers from?

Re: Nut&Bolt / Screwmod IBM for me?
The problem with bolt modding a specific board is that the shipping to get it to and from the person doing the bolt mod makes it almost more hassle than just buying one that is already bolt modded, but hopefully you'll get lucky and find someone locally that will do it!

Re: Overall opinions on the IBM model M2
The most legendary Mexico manufactured Model M's are the black M13's, so there should be quite a few people who have used those. I find all model M's seem to vary quite a bit from each other in terms of feel and sound even if they were manufactured in the same month/year by the same manufacturer. If...

Re: Northgate Omni Key 102 Gold Label (gold keyboard)
I've used reptiglo 10.0 fluorescent tubes which are supposed to put off a decent amount of UV and just submerged the casein the hydrogen peroxide. The trick is that the edges don't get very good light to them though and trying to shine through a clear container from the side I don't think works beca...

Re: Handheld Scientific Bluetooth Adapter BT-500
I have their previous version that has the internal lithium battery and I was eventually planning on implementing this inside of a beamspring, but I'm a little picky when it comes to function and I want to be able to switch between wired and wireless use and whenever USB is connected, I want the bat...

I presume the blockers can be removed and a couple more switches installed? Might require some remapping, but hopefully they'd produce scan codes at least? Or is such a modification considered sacrilege?

Re: Replacing Space Cadet Keycaps?
You might want to post pics of the boards and where the caps are missing from. You should be able to find a Honeywell hall effect keycap with the same profile, then hand paint it. I don't think 3D printing will beat this option in terms of quality and it would certainly cost less. Just my 2¢

Re: Add honing bumps/pips to F and J keycaps?
I've seen some people use thick stickers, kind of like that embossing material that's used with certain labelers and those seem to work pretty well without any modification to the keycaps themselves.

I like the idea, but I think the sound will vary a lot based on typing style and mic placement. Seems like there's a lot of bottoming out going on which I personally don't mind, but kind of masks sound of the actual switch and makes linears even sound clicky in some cases. Not sure how Chyros puts h...

I almost think that using XT's for their barrels/hammers isn't a total crime especially since no parts are actually destroyed and you could aways rebuild the XT from the parts again. Definitely think it makes sense to reuse the back plate, so really all you'd need is the PCB, barrel plate, and Xwhat...

I've seen some IBM boards with PBT caps worn down occasionally, and my hypothesis is that they were used in some sort of industrial environment where there would have been very fine abrasives on the user's fingers when they used them and over time it basically just sands keys down, and only the keys...

I think the lock LED in the up key is for programmable macros as mentioned by kakan. You could always desolder just that switch and LED and put a regular up arrow keycap there instead. The reason it's a yellow switch is because the presence of an LED makes it so that there's no place for click leave...

I did have a prototopre IBM a while back. It went to another member here, but I'm blanking on the name but I believe it went for my asking of $200 as they are relatively uncommon. They do have a nice build quality to them to say the least. I think one of my favorite features was how smooth and solid...

It's not too uncommon for the center row to feel a bit looser than the other rows if thick enough foam isn't used. The way around that though is to just put a bit of extra foam on that row. Something like a thin 1/8" or so strip of the same foam that runs down the row to give it some added thickness...
