Re: My Compaq MX-11800 is now ruined with a USB conexion and runing QMK.
Any leads on how to do this and how to connect the trackball? From what I understand the trackball is a standalone PS/2 device, so you can wire it seperately to a convertor, I think. I have a replacement 11800/11900 PCB from Taobao and it has a connector to convert the trackpad of the 11900. A 1180...

Then no. Unless you are willing to do the technical work of reprograming a board and installing leds yourself, there is nothing that fits what you're looking for. Market Failure... Who actually needs RGB? Just turn on the lights (but not too bright) Might was well stick an LED light bar under...

Re: Hall effect model M? Foam and foil conversion?
Edit: Regarding a hall effect mod, I think the best candidate would certainly be an interesting, common and well built rubber dome board. Most rubber domes are pretty smooth (to the point I almost had an existential crisis after finding that the smoothest used Alps board I could find was much scrat...

I'm starting to think a foam and foil board might be a better candidate for a hall effect mod. Any suggestions?

Hall effect model M? Foam and foil conversion?
Forgive me, I just woke up from a stupidly long nap a couple minutes ago and had an epiphany. Who said the hall effect should only be used for smooth linears. The sensors work in game controller shoulder buttons and probably anything else. What's a plentiful keyboard with great feel that lacks NKRO?...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
I was going to try to shove a 1800 PCB into it. I haven't popped it open yet, there's a chance it's USB or something else standard (but with a milspec connector), but I still need to find my torx driver. Actually working aside I reccomend it, the case is all metal, but with a giant sticker (similar ...

I love that you actually made new PCBs for totally forgotten boards like the 3M Whisperwriter and the GEAC 8340 but no one ever made new PCBs for fullsize Alps boards like the SGI Granite. There are only like 15 GEACs out there. It's great.

Custom keycaps for a CNC machine or some other piece of industrial equipment. I love the colors.
Unicomp could make something similar, but I'm not sure if they consistently do from printing. I think they do but I'm not sure.

One thing I'd love to try is to get a good-condition, fully electrical, front seat from a junked luxury vehicle and use that as either a work chair or as an alternative to buying a new recliner. Or, looking at it a different way, do things to make your life as comfortable as possible, whenever possible. :D This is definitely true. It's worth investing in the things you use all the time (chair, couch, bedding materials and computer peripherals). You'll be getting value out of them every day...

Re: Cherry G80-1800HCF
Yeah, the smaller sticker might have been more economical for a low volume custom order. I guess it wouldn't be the first time Cherry tried to save money or reduce manufacturing cost in a strange way (I have boards with plates designed to mount stabs but used hat/stepped keys instead).

Re: Cherry G80-1800HCF
Cherry actually sold 1800s with a label that small? That's bizarre, that's the size of the stickers they put on keyboard assemblies. It's almost like they expected OEMs or companies to put their own sticker there.

Time to re-learn CAD and start making them myself. The keys will be just like all the other Micro Switch boards I've got. I think you're right on the money. The case isn't anything special, so if you have similar switches and can solve the keycap issue then I think you'll have a good chance. I real...

An xwhatsit will work with basically any capacitive PCB matrix you create as long as it isn't larger than 16x8. I think the easiest way for someone who doesn't have the ability to make their own controllers would be to buy two xwhatsits, and attach one to the right PCB and one to the left PCB you h...

Re: Buckling spring corne?
You could 3D print a plastic barrel plates. That'd be the easiest way to get a curve. No idea how capactive buckling spring PCBs work, but there are replacement F controllers which replace all the "scanning" done by the original PCB, so I believe it's fairly understood. Easiest way would be a flat P...
