AND $643 ALREADY, GOD.
Ohhhh I didn’t notice that at first. Hopefully the bidders realize what they are getting. Always read the description before bidding!

Re: Focus FK-2001 Left Control Key Issue

Thanks again for the advice! I followed both tips and first checked out the PCB. There were no obvious cracks on any of the traces. I included a picture of the left control key PCB area and the whole board. A3FC26E8-457D-40A6-93EC-255B5F11D44C.jpeg F7E7A628-E540-471C-936E-56A76FE63A5D.jpeg I then re...

Re: Chicony KB-5160AT (w/Green Alps!)

Very nice! I’ve been wanting to try linear alps after getting a feel for yellow alps that came with the lock lights keys in a recent Focus keyboard I purchased.

How is the weight of the space bar? My model F AT has a heavy one and I’ve wondered if that was a common trait with AT-style boards.

Re: Keyboard packaging

I’ve been able to get free keyboard boxes from my local IT department that we’re getting recycled. The only problem with that is most desktop keyboards are thin and come is small boxes.

The last few <blue Alps keyboards> I've seen sell went over 300. Prices are getting nuts. This Leading Edge DC-3014 is at $520 US with more than a day to go. Historical record: Least expensive complete (i.e. not missing parts) USED blue Alps KB SOLD on ebay US: $180. Leading Edge DC-2014. Needs cle...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

I had pre-omnikey Northgate branded 555 a while back. It featured a small square gold badge with the Northgate logo on it. Mine was blue Alps, so I can't comment on the Omron switches, but I'd still consider any 555 an extremely rare find. I agree and considered making a go for it. If it has blue A...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

This Focus FK-555 looked interesting, especially being new in box: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Focus-FK-555-Mechanical-Keyboard-/274727950911 According to the wiki it can have blue Alps or cyan Omron B3G-S switches. I’ve heard the Omron switches can be unreliable and unrepairable. Does anyone have expe...

Welcome Oliver! I’m curious what you envision the site being like in one year and five years from now. I’m a new user and wanted to share that the wiki has been of tremendous value for me. I don’t have a strong opinion on likes or voting buttons. I frequent Ars Technica and noticed the comment votin...

Re: Alps Appreciation

I thought I’d share a new addition. An AZTECH branded Focus FK-555 keyboard with blue Alps. Physically it’s in good condition but it’s very dirty. It seems like it’s hasn’t been used much so I’m hoping a clean will bring it back to good working condition.

DataDesk TK-3000. One of the more interesting formats I’ve seen. Looks like it was owned by an enthusiast, as it’s been restored and converted to white Alps.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

I came across this interesting and very pricey Model M. It seems to be a square badge variant from the 90s made by Lexmark. I didn’t think they had square badge versions after the 80s. As far as I can tell it’s still a regular model M so I don’t think I would be willing to shell out $1000 for it. ht...

Focus FK-2001 Left Control Key Issue

I have three FK-2001 keyboards and two of them intermittently do not register a key press on only the left Control key. One has Alps clones and the other has genuine Alps. My third FK-2001 is a new old stock which I think is why it’s issue free. I think the issue is me pressing the key too hard and ...

Re: Model M Requires Hard Key Press on S & F Keys

Thanks again for the advice! I replaced the spring following pandrew’s method but the keys still required a hard press, so I went with anthonymak‘s method and did a full bolt mod. When taking apart the foam and membranes I noticed some plastic shavings in between the layers of the membranes from dri...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread

Common microswitch SD variants. I’m curious of anyone can identify this switch. The attached pictures are from keyboard installed in an old military simulator that’s been gutted. The switches are linear and a little heavy. I’m trying to see if I can take the keyboard before it’s trashed. Thanks!

Model M Requires Hard Key Press on S & F Keys

Hello, I just finished cleaning up a Model M, along with replacing six broken rivets with bolts and noticed the S and F keys require a hard press in order to register. All other keys work correctly. I’m 99% sure the keys were working correctly before I cleaned it. The S and F keys seem to operate an...

Re: Hello from a new guy!

The vintage branch of the rabbit hole isn't a bad one to do. The modern branch is, I think, the one that dooms mere mortals. Take caution there, lest you be saddled with hundreds of expensive "artisan keycaps" of dubious worth. And other such pitfalls. Old stuff tends to hold its value at worst, an...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

I was wondering if someone could shed some light on a keyboard auction that is commanding a high price. It looks like a NOS NCR k440. I couldn’t find anything in the Wiki or much online, other than it might be a Cherry switch based. It’s way out of my budget but I was curious why it’s seems to be so...

Hello from a new guy!

Hello everyone. I’ve recently gotten into the mechanical keyboard scene thanks to a video from Chyros. I was looking for an Apple aluminum keyboard and noticed his review stating it was terrible and thought, what would be better? Needless to say I started to go down the vintage and mechanical rabbit...
