Re: [WTB UK/EU] HHKB Caps
I do like the 9009 set but more for the white HHKB, and as you said, and I have found, stock HHKB caps are brilliant. With that being said, those stock caps aren't quite as garish as I'd wished but they'd tick the box. I'll have a look at a few picks online, WoB, and let you know

Re: Realforce 87u or 86u (or R2 55g eventually)
Could try Palatino; a gent if you haven't yet had the pleasure. I remember him getting a 55 g a few months back. Think it was an R1 Ivory TKL. And of course, he may not be selling it! He's pretty into his HHKBs now though so he may be willing to let it go if he still has it.

[WTB UK/EU] HHKB Caps
I'm after a nice set of caps for a black HHKB. I wanted to really lean into a modern aesthetic and go for something like this: Domikey HHKB Orange.png However, I was just about to buy this and I realised it didn't have the typical HHKB sub legends PXL_20220512_090944442.jpg . I love the HHKB layout ...

That's fair. Can't blame your productivity at work on a keyboard; normies won't get it

Re: HHKB
Selling new HHKB Hybrid Type-S white. Bought for myself, but for the love of god my brain cannot accept this layout :( Original box included. New one is £299, I'm letting mine go for £230 + delivery Nooooo, how long have you tried the layout for? I had the same reaction with my first HHKB. It didn'...

Re: Nopre Electro-Capacitive Switches: A Good Topre Alternative? (Niz Plum/Abko)
I did briefly own a HHKB JP. The stagger didn't bother me, and I found the space bar to be a brilliant way to anchor my right hand, refining my typing technique. The keyboard was returned to it's seller as it wasn't the condition described but I'm glad I didn't get too comfortable with for many of t...

Re: Vintage looking 60% keyboard case
Yup, pretty. Now if that'd had been in a HHKB layout, I'd be particularly jealous! In terms of split backspace/right shift or removal of left ctrl? While I can appreciate a good sub 40% layout, I don't understand why you would leave out a perfectly good working modifier key on a ~60%. Why do you en...

Re: How usable is the Model F XT layout?
Since getting an XT a few weeks ago, I've daily driven it and found it to be quite agreeable. Two things keep on catching me out though. The lack of lock lights means that, although toggling between num and nav is easy, it is also easy to forget which one you've previously selected. It still catches...

I'll admit to only appreciating Ellipse project from afar; likely the reason for my overly rosy view of the boards.

Re: New Model M vs Model F Repro
I understand what you're trying to ascertain, JC. I think one of the things worth mentioning is that Unicomp Ms are modelled on the most recent IBM/Lexmark Ms. Ms were cheapified and cheapified from their first iteration to get to that last generation; and then there was some further cheapification ...

Re: Noob asking for help
The true joy of the haggis supper you describe is using the heat still in the heart of the beast to keep your fingers warm as you scoff it while walking to the pub on a starry winter night. (5 o'clock will do in December.) Belly full of that stuff and you'll hold your drink like the sheep held thei...

Re: Noob asking for help
My climbing troupe's first task when we cross the boarder is always to obtain a deep fried haggis. It's never the focus of our visits to The Highlands, but the reverence with which the artery-clogging pilgrimage is undertaken would have you think otherwise.

Re: Vintage looking 60% keyboard case
Not a 60 %, or a hotswap full size, but I found this NCR80 a few days ago and fell in love. As far as vintage-inspired, modern customs go, I thought this looked particularly nice. Mine should arrive in a week or two.

Re: Alps wax mod - procedure & evaluation!
Indeed. I wished to try and salvage the bottom housing, along with the switch plate. Unfortunately, those weren't as intact as I thought it was so I just soldered in a whole new switch. Considering there was a few things I wished to do with this board, outside of the time it all took, this has been ...

Re: Alps wax mod - procedure & evaluation!
PXL_20220423_105446641.jpg O.K., so the first thing to note about this mod is that it doesn't appear to be particularly time consuming/labour intensive. When compared to your typical MX lube job anyway. What does get you is having to dry out the insides of the sliders. On balance, I'd say it is sti...
