Hey, maybe they're expecting money in return for letting someone fix it.
It's sad that right now one can't even edit the wiki properly. Almost everything throws an error.

Opinions
Regarding this change I feel tempted to add a rule to the conventions on editing the wiki about personal opinions, but I suppose this requires some consensus first. My view on this is that opinions as a general rule should be left out of the wiki, but are OK as long as they reflect the feeling of a ...

Re: Future of DT
Photekq is pruning a recent backup.
KBI however appears to be adamant to stick to dokuwiki for their wiki engine so until that changes I'm out of it all. Good luck,

Re: Future of DT
Updating the forum software and making the wiki easier to use could also be beneficial, but it's important to balance improvements with maintaining what already works well. The wiki isn't much more than forum software with additional (and extensible) syntax and a versioning system built-in to keep ...

Need help nuking secondary account
Hi, I'm not sure who I should pester with this problem so here it goes. I need my secondary account (tactica2) deleted so I can just update the email address of my current account. I can tell you privately my new email address to verify that the account to be deleted belongs to me. Thanks in advance.

Anyway AdNW article was added back in with a bunch of edits. I don't know how to restrict images sizes though. The one image is far too large I'm not even sure Adnwqa2.png is so useful, IMO the original image is far too small to provide details. Anyway, the "thumb" keyword was missing in both pictu...

I copied over the markdown from the new page that I was making to the old page. The edit history of the "new work" I did will be lost this way but that is not the worst thing in the world. Should I delete the new page (key layouts) as it was essentially just used as a scratch pad and has no backlin...

Those changes are now listed as the initial history of the new page. That's what was supposed to happen, methinks. In a way, it's like if the old page was updated, it's just that the changes appear on the new page. Why the history of the old page had to be messed with, I don't know either... Maybe a...

Merging is documented in MediaWiki.org here , but a sysop must do it as this requires a special privilege regular users don't have. I have never done this but apparently merging these two pages will simply add the following changes from the old page to the log of your new page: (prev) 19:06 10 jan 2...

I'm looking for 'that one' kb because the flea market KBs (mechanicals) are few and far between. I'm patient and all that, but I doubt I will ever find an M or something. I'm probably the least lucky man here and yet my first M was a rubber dome I got for free while at work, from someone who was pr...

It's at the point where a GUI table editor might be more practical :P FYI, there is a Visual Editor for MediaWiki. How well it manages tables, I have no idea - I quit the editor immediately whenever Wikipedia launches it for me. https://www.ebay.de/itm/Vintage-New-IBM-Model-M-Clicky-Keyboard-J2-198...

Right. All those should go in a separate article, the one about IBM P/Ns alone is becoming quite large without clones.Myoth wrote: ↑oh okay, so we're not counting Dell branded Ms, nor Ambras etc too ?

-how did you find the 1386853 and such obscure layouts ? did you just assume their part number by looking at the part number scheme of other keyboards ? No assumption, that one and many others were found by checking official documentation from IBM. Take a look at the references. Documentation with ...

I suggest you keep references to the minimum. For the IBM part numbers article I decided to place a reference in the "parent" keyboard or the first regional version, and omit it for the rest. Unless, of course, where there is good reason to add the reference again, for example when other unrelated k...

OK, first things first: to provide an answer to the OP, if I were going to pick one among those in the proposed selection, I'd go for a TKL keyboard (Marisa: this means one without a numeric keypad) with either Cherry MX Red or Blue switches, depending on whether noise is a factor or not (MX Blue is...

A quick look at the "guides" category in the wiki reveals that https://deskthority.net/wiki/(Mechanical)_keyboards:_getting_started and https://deskthority.net/wiki/Introduction_to_keyboards seem to be the only pages resembling a guide for choosing a keyboard. Maybe a combination of both could be wr...

While webwit still has time for the wiki, maybe it would be a good idea to replace the stock upload mechanism with Extension:UploadWizard . This is what they use on Wikipedia, and despite the efforts from Daniel and 002 (?) to improve the way {{filedesc}} works, I think it is in our best interest to...

Lua is invoked from within templates. I intend to begin with the templates I mentioned. I know Daniel wants to create timelines, and that might come next. (misunderstanding) As I said, I don't *need* to speak Lua to import some modules and modify the templates to use those modules. And as soon as so...

Lua does not really add any more red tape than it already exists when a newbie decides to start editing a wiki. You don't need to learn Lua at all unless you intend to write your own modules or edit whatever is already installed, and that's way beyond what 99.9% of people who edit a wiki need to kno...

The difference between "the world's #1 target for spambots" and Deskthority is that we are many orders of magnitude smaller than wikipedia. Sure it could provide some benefit, but I don't forsee the primary DT wiki editors actually using it all that often and I wouldn't trust new accounts to use Lu...
