Toothpick is really old fashion now guys, just buy alps opener, or print one. It saves you so much time and trouble.
I had this printed here, credit to monksoffunk, for like 4 empire money and it has worked like a charm.

This type works great and, from the looks of that video, is far easier to use.

yeah not my intention to point out which opener is better than which. I just had mine 3DP for cheap from a lad here in the UK, and it works so well. But i have heard good thing about the other model as well.
sounds lit, may i join?ddrfraser1 wrote: ↑31 Mar 2021, 15:54Thanks for the tip. Just bought one.fohat wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 23:28This type works great and, from the looks of that video, is far easier to use.

I don't know if matias switches belong in this thread, but I just got a matias quiet pro mini (or some other convoluted name) and I've gotta say, it's kinda crappy (I paid 30 bucks locally plus gas, toll, etc). I doubt there's much comparison to damped SKCM ALPS which I have yet to try. I prefer my HHKB in terms of more quiet tactile switches and greatly prefer orange ALPS to either of the aforementioned switches. Really hoping the covid dies down so I can go to meetups and try more boards.

Don't like Matias too much either. Except for some reason their linears (the red ones), but with the dampeners removed. They feel so different compared to the rest of the Matias bunch. Superlight and supersmooth, but still "ALPS"-feel linears. If it wasn't for their reliability issues, I'd have already decked out a board with em.

Some variety in ALPS cap colour:

Left to right:
SKFF Cannon: white on dark grey
SKCC Cannon: cream on brown (or is it a warm grey?)
SKCC Heath/Zenith: white on grey, sometimes these have the same legend as the others, sometimes its this wider, thicker legend style
SKCC pingmaster: black on white
SKCC something: black on cream. I've had multiple of the board that this cap came from and they were both the same colour so it isn't yellowing its just tan

They all have charm. The second one (more warm grey than full brown, it’s too pale) has a great vibe. But the third wins because LEGEND!

I've been using the Dell with pine whites for a week now and I love it so much I've even stopped rotating through my keyboards like I normally do (though I'll probably go back to that soon since I like the variety.) I think I like this even more than my Model M.

Clicky ALPS are indeed a pleasure (when in a good condition).I certainly prefer them over any other Clicky ones.

not a big fan of small boards but this one is for sure very lovely.
cant really make my mind about the switches before actually being able to use the board but i can see why people would like/dislike them.
best part for me is surely the very dull/thocky sound, almost wooden.

The VideoWriter is almost a classic layout. Just short a few mods to be totally usable. Curse you spaaaaacebar! But pretty, aye.
