I lost a diode off my Ergo Pro while swapping out switches. I have virtually no electronics training, so what should I be looking for to get the proper one and where can I get it? They're very small and rectangular. It got sucked up into my solder sucker and completely disappeared.

I can't help specifically with the Ergo Pro, but what you want is a 1N4148 or 1N914 diode. "Square" means it's surface mount, and there are several different package sizes and lead configurations. Do a search for "1N4148 SOD" and find one that matches the dimensions and lead style of the others on your board.

First, I shall revise my statement and say I now think they're cylindrical. I base this on a very large pic of the PCB I found on Geekhack and another ginormous pic I found when searching for these diodes.

The diode pic links to https://www.tntrcrn.com/index.php?main_ ... _id=266976, which is a different color. I know that can mean something. Should it still work for me? (I know these are really basic questions and I really appreciate your help, polecat.)

Looks almost like a 1N4148 diode with no legs (and flat metal bits instead). Every through hole keyboard diode is orange with a black stripe, not sure why the linked ones are blue, but it could just be a weird render.

Here you go:

Electrically the size and shape don't matter, so any version you can solder in place will work. Make sure the polarity is correct (banded end).
