So this is an experiment: could I use the new iPhone's USB-C connection to connect a Model M keyboard to it, and would it work? To my surprise, it works really well. This is an 1986 Model M connected to a Soarer's converter, connected to an adapter, and then to the iPhone.

Hi. Only now do I know this is possible. Great!

That's great but... would it be possible to add a power bank somehow in this setup to power the keyboard, rather than having it sucking the cellphone battery?

Yes, a battery powered USB hub ought to do it. Bonus points for installing it inside the Model M’s generous chassis. I did something similar for a while 10 years ago with my XT and iPad over Lightning. Had to use a dongle to make it happen back then, so it’s easier now they’ve finally embraced USB, like real computers. ;)

Edit: Actually, it was the original iPad I first used atop my XT, for a stand. Same idea: "camera connector kit" USB adapter for the 30 pin dock connector did the trick, and allowed charging the iPad from a powered hub.
