I haven't seen many IBM M13's in industrial gray.
The only ones that I have experience with are the 06H4173 Made by Unicomp in 1999.

While they had the interesting industrial gray case color; unfortunately, these Unicomp M13 didn't have the same trackpoint technology as the ones in the black 13H6705 or white 82G3281. The trackpoints were functional, but the tracking speed was more appropriate for the days when CRTs were 640x480 or 800x600. (Similar to the problem of the M5-1's and M5-2')
Back in April 2006, I acquired 75 new in box 06H4173 units from an IBM spare parts warehouse and they sold relatively slowly by October 2007. When I went back to the original warehouse, the building was completely empty with the placard of a commercial leasing company.
I too am curious to see what the earliest industrial gray M13's are.

I seem to recall seeing the website of a Japanese collector who claimed to have a Lexmark-made one, which would put its manufacture date between 93 and 96, but most of the ones I've seen are Unicomp ones, with a few Maxiswitch ones too.

Here's another one :
What is the latest production-date IBM Model M you have ever seen ?
('IBM Model M' defined as 'it does NOT say 'Lexmark' or 'L' anywhere on outer labels' ?
Don't look inside.. It says 'Lexmark' on all the chips after the mid-1990's ..)

A Lexmark made industrial M13? I seem to recall hearing about a white Lexmark M13 but never an industrial.daedalus wrote:I seem to recall seeing the website of a Japanese collector who claimed to have a Lexmark-made one, which would put its manufacture date between 93 and 96, but most of the ones I've seen are Unicomp ones, with a few Maxiswitch ones too.
I think you're referring to this guy, which shows the white Lexmark M13 but says he's "in search of" a Lexmark M13 Industrial, but with the part # for a white M13I. Think he's mistaken on the manufacturer.
