HHKBP2 mini usb to usb?

Y'ello,

so I've read how terrible the life of mini usb adapter is that is integrated in HHKB. So I've been planning to carry the keyboard to work with me, but that means 2x plugging in/plugging out the keyboard daily and with the predicted life span of the mini usb B being around 600-1000 cycles, I could wear that in a year. Does anybody know if there's a good solution to this? Maybe a mini usb b to mini usb b very small adapter or something like that? Something replacable? Any ideas how to get around this?

I've had something like this in mind preferably without a cable in between:

If anybody has any better ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Couldn't you order Hasu's replacement programmable controller for the HHKB Pro2 and swap it in the day you're miniUSB dies?

Don't know if it would help but there are several pictures in there that may give you ideas (including one where a miniUSB port is added on the side of the HHKB).

Yeh I know about this and it's actually easier to resolder a new mini usb after it fails than it, but I'd rather not open my keyboard. I don't know, I'm not so huge on modifications and what not, I like stock everything, be it keyboards or cars or what have you.

Blah, I'll probably go after a second HHKB.

I never had a problem with this, maybe get an angled USB connector (on the mini side) and keep it plugged in to the HHKB and unplug the other side if you are worried about it?

Getting a second one would also work as long as you trust that a cleaner won't steal it from the office :D

Yeh, you're right...I've searched far and wide (well, not really, mostly ebay and amazon) and this seems the closest to what I want:

Getting a second one sounds even better, yea. Cleaner can only clean during work hours and I seriously doubt coworkers would take it, so I'm not that worried about it.

I was thinking something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181216510170

Just ordered one for myself too.

Oh yeah but I don't want to plug in/plug out the cable so much. With this cable, you have to plug it in and out every time you want to move it. I just want to transfer the cycle strain from keyboard to a cheap adapter.

Any opinions on such an adapter?

Ah, I was thinking unplug from your PC rather than from the back of the keyboard.

Those Motorola ones you posted looked fine to me.

Yeah that is one option but then I'd have to go behind my computer and behind the computer at work 2x a day...blah, too much work for a daily activity. I'll probably just get one more HHKB.
