well this sucks. I tend to try and stay out of the ongoing GH controversy, but this is too F'ing stupid.

What sort of positive outcome is there for GH by banning/losing yet another senior member with the wealth of knowledge he has?
The only reason seems to be to keep the young newbie members happy and make things all nice and safe like school these days. Meaning no jokes, no teasing, no off-topic, no fun, & we cannot just have a single #1 keyboard expert on the planet...we all must be keyboard experts in our own and unique way as we must be fair to all

I've been here since late 2010, which is longer than the vast majority of people posting these days. So I''ve seen the various incarnations of Ripster and sadly Ripster of 2010 was his best days before the complainers started to move in. Heck even most of Ripster and KL's fighting back in the day was good for a laugh even. So if they are putting their differences behind them to stand up to the new rules that should be quite the sign of a problem with the site's direction?

So what really is the problem with the pre-banned may2012 Ripster?
-He went back to being helpful and posting proper direct links and not just "its in my sig" messages on every post
-He no longer tells jokes outside his sub-forum
-He doesn't go off-topic too much outside his sub-forum
-He does challenge the mod's and new rules put in place. But is that really a bad thing when we don't have well defined rules and consistent moderation taking place? Seemingly the only reason for any of these changes is to please the young newbies who need everything all nice and safe. I'd rather have Ripster here than real trolls like tp4tissue, or whatever the heck his name is. All that guy did was troll and cause problems on purpose and contributed nothing to GH

When the top 3 US/Europe keyboard experts (ripster/webwit/sixty) have now all left GH either by choice or by force shouldn't that be a sign a problem with the direction GH is taking?

i was referring to a post that was long since lost thanks to the great purge... clearly the tongue-in-cheek was lost on ripster. you're all taking yourself far too seriously.

that being said, i'm not silly enough to compromise my family's saftey by providing my actual home address to those i don't know personally. all my shipping/billing addresses out on the internet are either forwarded or PO boxes.

Two things must occur for a post or thread to be deleted. It must be in violation of forum rules AND it must be reported by a member.

I lost a dozen posts/threads in the FEEDBACK/SUGGESTIONS subforum yesterday.

I don't know if it's a personal change in philosophy or an effort to "commercialise" the site alá Facebook but as iMav changes so does Geekhack.

Me on the other hand, same old asshole since day one at GH/DT/OCN/DinnerParties....

It's all fucked up. Is there any keyboard-related discussion on GH anymore? It's just a big "gBay" with a bunch of Group Buys that never come to fruition or otherwise people bitching about how they got screwed on some sale or whatever.

I only asked for my account to be disabled because iMav was not fair to me. And only after iMav asked me if this is what I wanted (he always fails to mention this). This was immediately fulfilled, and many will remember that it said "account disabled" under my avatar. I never asked for my posts to be removed, which would be a silly thing. And which did not happen. This was not because of fishy "hopes", but because it was not requested.

iMav removed my posts much later after I pulled a joke on him concerning certain dynamic images in my posts which were hosted on my server, as some of you will remember...
Yep, that did the trick iMav, but then man up and admit your use of a blunt weapon of poverty, instead of cowering away in lies to your entire community at my expense.

Also, this story changed again? First it was claimed I removed my posts myself. Which was not possible, because you cannot log in with a disabled account.

iMav erased the posts, because he wanted to erase them. Humanity will survive.

Humanity WILL survive.

But I am SURE GLAD I had the last two months to back up all my Ripster Guides/reviews/mods to my hard drive.

i've said it before, and i'll say it again...

your actual content is worthy of a properhome, and i think it should be in a format that can be embedded or referenced at sites like GH, OCN, here, or other forums. you don't play well with others, and having all the crap that goes on with 99% of your actual posts reflecting on the work you do submit is a shame, because (i think) it discredits your actual work.
