HHKB isn't variable force though.

Thanks dirge - keyboard arrived today, and of course to 002. I will have thorough test and post a review. First impressions, it is super heavy. Just a bit of background - board at the office is a G80-3000 MX Blues and at home using a Filco TKL also with Blues.

Great news! Royal Mail didn't lose it :) It's heavy and well made aint it. I managed to put each end on two bricks and stand on it. Held 16 stone no bother!

Don't worry I took my shoes off.

I have the actual keyboard and I am unable to verify if he did or not. Cosmetically it is perfect and since I am now using it as my driver at work (using it now to type this) it appears to be fully functional. You say he is probably joking and before I had the keyboard I would have been inclined to agree but now that I have it, I have doubts and could be persuaded to agree that he did. This board is incredibly solid and sturdy. I thought that nothing could have more muscle than my Model M but I really need to get home and compare the two.

I'm sorry it's come to this guys, but there is now a new rule:
- No standing on the keyboard

Anyone who was planning to stand on the keyboard can PM me and I'll remove them from the list. Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.

Bah, I presume this means no gravity tests either?

Gravity tests are permitted, so long as they are performed outside of Earth's gravitational field

zeeko

Ok, then I will do them on Jupiter :P
That's 2,5x the gravity of the earth (~25m/s²)

Forget about Jupiter or anywhere else, the keyboard is heavy enough here. I'm hoping to get this sent out tomorrow. I'll confirm when done. Overall, I think the construction quality is fantastic and the keycaps have a great feeling and look good. The Topre switches feel much better than a rubber dome but I think they are too smooth. I prefer my MX Blues or my BS because they are more tactile. Think peanut butter - crunchy vs smooth. The Topres feel more like soft MX Browns or MX Reds. Again, many thanks to 002 for doing this. Board is still looking great. I've just dusted it down with a paper towel, have not used any cleaning fluids etc since it is still looking great.

The board is now off to rhizo (also in the UK). I've used a recorded delivery service and it has got a good level of insurance so all should be well for the next leg of the euro tour. Again, many thanks to 002 for the opportunity to try the board.

I don't mind adding you to the list if the other guys have no objections.

Have you got the board yet, rhizo?

got it just a minute ago... although i thought it would be a keyboard and not a sledgehammer?

Check the box again, the sledgehammer may just be supplied so you can verify it passes kinetic testing. The board may be in the bottom of the box.

I'ld like to apply for a tester too please. Living in Germany it would be nice to be squeezed somewhere in between there, but I'll take the end of the list as well. :) Thanks.

It's at my place! Man is it good to type on :P

I thought the variable-ness would be noticeable, but it's just so natural. I'll be getting the address of the next dude.

And don't worry, this board is gonna be heavily used this week ;)
