There’s an update to the FB thread from Unicomp which mentions that this keyboard will have a detachable USB cable.

So it should. Fixed cables are barbaric.

Mind, I’ll believe the Unicomp SSK when I see it. This talk has been going on for years.

1.5/1.1.5 / 5.75 / 1.25/1.5/1/1.5? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalmost there.
It will most likely support a 7u space bar.

They announced a few years ago that they were no longer going to have different tooling for keyboards with and without Windows keys. It's supposedly the same barrel plate and membrane for both full-size keyboards and 7 and 5.75u space bars. Before this, the keyboards with Windows keys had 1.5-1.25-125 - 5.75 - 1.25-1.25-1.25-1.5 bottom row.

However, when they did this, they kept the right Alt's position in Windows layouts, putting the right Windows key between it and the space bar.
Well, moving the RALT key to the left for no good reason WAS an imbecile choice by Microsoft when they pushed their keys on to us in the first place. That said, the Menu key (if it was going to be kept in, instead of eliminated) should have been the one placed between the space bar and RALT).

"Hip" kids these days have rediscovered the goodness of a proper bottom row (even if they call it "tsangan"), so there IS some glimmer of hope for the future.

What bothers me about the bottom row the most is the 1u keys seem to be a different profile then the other keys.

The SSK looks good in black.

I'd prefer the industrial grey to be honest....

Eclipse has built by himself a model f in a shorter time than it took a whole bunch of professionals to build a model m, having all the tools ready (while Eclipse and his fellows had to build everything from scratch).

We should suggest to unicop to ask for feedback from the community, before they make some bad bad bad unrecoverable mistakes.

Model m for example is compatible with both ansi and iso, usint for both the same frame/plate. Will this tkl be compatible with both?

Their bottom row makes me puke.

I said this, many years ago:

I think it's safe to say the Unicomp SSK is dead. This kind of quality control shows how much they're struggling. And, from what I've heard, they're on autopilot over there anyway. They could have hooked up with the big spending keyboard community (they're in the land of Geekhack and Massdrop after all). But they did not. Instead, Unicomp's path is towards retirement. That's the big announcement I expect from them.

Surprise me!
Here we are, in 2019 now, and the situation remains the same. If they were serious about this project, it would be already done.

Unless they have created a new return key design just for this keyboard which is incompatible with the ISO layout, I would imagine it supports both layout types.

Not even a fan of 10 keyless, but I think I'd buy one, and then get a seperate 10 key pad. (wish unicomp made one)

When dealing with a keyboard, the part that requires the biggest investment is the mould. It probably cost at least 5000 dollars. PCBs and controllers are cheap and require no investment, they barely scale in term of price. Do you agree with that? If that's true, they overcame the biggest difficulty. People (little geniuses) on DT have made PCBs before. So maybe there isn't much to wait. If they hire someone in the forum.

Been waiting for this, for YEARS.

Thought that Trump's America that is running full strength, that all US companies would start investing into their product lines. The ongoing China-hate campaign should of produced great products thus far, except we get more hatred and suspicion being produced.

Maybe that is the NEW product-line they're investing in these days on American Soil, build that first instead of actually MAKING a superior product to do battle against their perceived 'Enemies".

So sad that Unicomp didn't pull their finger out by now. If they don't do it now, they never will make anything within the near future despite Tariff-man's ongoing support.

Hey, uh, you alright?

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say one way or the other there.

I work at Unicomp, and am very careful about what I talk about online so I don't get fired :D

You can actually see my elbow in that pic. Sneak level 100.
Fix that bottom row then please :). Its fixed on the full size so no reason to not fix on SSK :)
