Round 7 / ALGOL-style / Deadline 2018-11-30

Hi,

Looking for some assistance selecting kits from R7.

It seems that the HYPER7 kits from R6 have all found homes.

So, the quest is to build up a HYPER7 layout, but I'm having difficulty finding some of the kits (do they exist?).

I've managed to snag HYPER7/POS and HYPER7/BASE from the R6 leftovers (a solid start) - but the remaining pieces are proving elusive.

The following kits are made available in R7:
ALGOL/CADET/7BIT/GREY - to cover all required alphas
ALGOL/NUMNUM/BLUE
ALGOL/NUMOP/BLUE - both kits are required to create the RHS number cluster

A reference to HONEY/NUMERIC7/WHITE was found whilst browsing R5 leftovers (a lead), which looks to cover the top-most row (above number row and below POS keys).
However, I would need either:
- a split set with most of the keys in GREY and 4 in BLUE ([^], [%], [#], [$]) to sit above the numpad cluster
or, more likely
- 2 sets, 1 GREY, 1 BLUE

HONEY/NUMERIC7/GREY - placed above the alphas
HONEY/NUMERIC7/BLUE - for [^], [%], [#], [$]

R3 1u [DELETE]
R3 1u [RUN] - bottom row of numpad cluster

Then all that remains (all!) is the LHS cluster in its entirety in BLUE (can this be done?)

R1 1u [F1] [F2] [F3] [F4] [CLOSE] [OPEN] [FIND] [WRITE]
R2 1u [F5] [F6] [MARK] [UNDO]
R3 1u [F7] [F8] [SELECT] [DEBUG]
R4 1u [F9] [F10] [ALT LOCK] [TTY LOCK]
R3 1u [F11] [F12] [HOME] [EOF]

Frustratingly, there's a teasing link to HYPER7 on 7bit's site - but the link doesn't provide any further detail.
Is this link (below) a sign of something yet to come (fingers crossed)?

http://www.7bit.info/algol/ALGOL_KEYBOARD.html#ALGOL | KEYBOARD | COMPLETE KIT | HYPER7

7bit, could you comment? It would make things many orders of magnitude easier for me if that link is due to be made real!

I would be incredibly grateful if anyone is able to help (even if it's just to confirm that I'm on the right track)!

Cheers,
bit-shifter

@bit-shitter

I'm on the same boat with you, almost.
I have the HYPER7/POS and I debated ordering the HYPER7/BASE set countless time even after I have order many many overlapping kits of R6. For those who aspire to build a HYPER7, there is nothing better than just getting the HYPER7/BASE (and the HYPER7/POS) without waiting time.

Creating the exact alphanumeric keys from R7 for the Hyper7 will be a bit difficult. I have a text file on my Desktop named "7bit.txt" which is a list of constantly changing items to add or remove from R5/6/7. I think I have an easier goal than you do, because because to rebuild the missing Hyper7 alphanumeric (R6) there are those extra symbols and bracket combos that were sold out some time ago, not to mention the original alphanumeric set.
You may even need to convince 7bit to include those handful of totally missing caps (in R6 but not in R7) in the eventual R7 production - only letting him know there there will be enough people buying those caps will convince such a decision.

Here is the list of ALGOL (R7) that I am compiling right now (sorry not totally related to Hyper7), I usually remove the redundant orders and trying to get it below 200€:
*ALGOL/CADET/GREY $54
*ALGOL/VBSL/R4/GREY $2.25

*ALGOL/F1TOF12/BLUE $16

*ALGOL/MOD100/BLUE $9
*ALGOL/MOD125/BLUE $18
*ALGOL/MOD100E/BLUE $19

*ALGOL/SHIFT100/BLUE x2 $3

*ALGOL/F13TOF24/GREY $12

*ALGOL/VCRSYM/R3/RGBGREY $29

(For HHKB & 75%)
*ALGOL/VBSL/R1/GREY $2.25
*ALGOL/HHKB/BLUE $24
*ALGOL/BSP150/BLUE $5
*ALGOL/TAB150/BLUE $5
*ALGOL/RETURN225/BLUE $6
*ALGOL/SHIFT225/BLUE $9
*ALGOL/MOD150/BLUE $12
*ALGOL/SPACE700/GREY $12
*ALGOL/SPACE625/GREY $12
*ALGOL/MODSYM100/BLUE $9

*ALGOL/BSP200/BLUE $4.5
*ALGOL/SHIFT275/BLUE $6
*ALGOL/CONTROL175S/BLUE $3.75
*ALGOL/VBSL150/GREY $3.75

(For Planck)
*ALGOL/MODSYM100E/BLUE $9
(ALGOL/TUX/R3U100/GREY $1.5)

(Nav9-cluster and Numpad)
ALGOL/CURBASE/BLUE $11.25
(ALGOL/CURSYMBASE/BLUE $11.25)
(ALGOL/CURSYMXTRA/BLUE $14.25)

ALGOL/NUMNUM/GREY $15.75
ALGOL/NUMOP/BLUE $21.75

(ideal Numpad suggested by zslane)
(Tab, Bksp, =, comma, brackets, ^, etc)
ALGOL/BSPSYM100/R1/BLUE $2.25 (error? should be bksp symbol instead)
ALGOL/BSPSYM100/R3/BLUE $2.25 (already have it? check ALGOL/MOD100E/BLUE)
ALGOL/BSPSYM100/R1/RED $2.25 (error? should be bksp symbol instead)
*Still miss a R1 '=' in blue, Round7 only in R4/R2
?ALGOL/INTERC/GREY $6.75 (grey or blue, for the R1 '^')
?ALGOL/GR/BLUE $21.75 (for the R3 '^', R2 colon)
>ALGOL/ESC/GREEN $2.25
>ALGOL/DT/R1U100/GREY $2.25

(RGB caps)
(Extra contrast, but white on black is better)

You are right, there are no molds for 6u SA caps so this won't happen anytime soon

No, many of the color combinations are not possible with SPs PBT Dyesub and also SP has no rows with PBT caps at the moment

Ah good to know.
But Round 6 was PBT Dyesub, yes?
And in round 7, will there be caps where the lettering lets LED light through?

So these key caps will be yellowing or does SP have something to prevent that?

Ah, thank you for the answers. This does put a damper on my initial enthusiasm. I'm thinking of canceling my order.

Edit;
I've send SP an e-mail asking if they have done anything to prevent the yellowing process.

Sweet. I just got an invoice email, but I am completely confused on how to pay. I kept seeing "SEPA invoice" thrown around in this thread and I am really confused on how to fulfill whatever that is or preferably just pay by paypal. Can someone walk me through this?

SEPA is just bank transfer. I don’t know how to pay with PayPal, I live in Europe and think 7-bit only accepts bank tranfer here. I had only the bank transfer instructions in the mail I got.

Do you know how I could do that from America?

I think he only accepts PP from the US, not sure though.
I'd suggest to wait until Zslane or somebody else replies here, they will know.

As soon as a PayPal collector becomes available, you will receive a new invoice with instructions on where to send PP payments to.

Abandon all hope.
Signature Plastics LLC wrote: Thanks for the email! Unfortunately yellowing is a natural side affect of ABS plastic over time. We do not take steps to prevent this as the yellow occurs over the course of a number of years. We would recommend not keeping keycap sets directly in sunlight as that can speed up the yellowing process.
