How reliable are the LEDs used in the optical sensors, and what happens when they fail? How many hours will they last?

The infrared couples are SMD soldered on PCB to guarantee their electrical performance, these infrared couples are specially customized for our mechanical keyboard by EVERLIGHT( a key player in the global LED industry). Many strict experiments and testing were passed before we apply them into our mechanical optical keyboard. The infrared couple's projected lifetime is far more than 30000 hours with stability.
