Concerning your Black Alps, I think the word you're looking for is "bamboo", which distinguishes later SKCM or SKCL switches without slits from earliers ones that have them ("pine").

"Simplified" refers to later contact mechanisms as seen in SKBM switches, versus the earlier "complicated" switchplates.

I think you're probably right. I can't remember about the slits, but they definitely have the simplified contact mechanism without the white part.
