The Key Tronic's plate holes are a tiny bit bigger than Cherry MX, so that PCB is going to be needed.
I keep a Key Tronic plate as template for cutting foam dampener to put in-between PCB and plate. :)

Yes, it's going to be held in place with standoffs and I will drill the holes in the original plate. I'm also going to be using in-switch diodes like the old G80s did for more stability.

Almost done with the PCB, going to do some final measurements on the old plate and case before sending it off.
(I decided to put the LEDs and beeper on separate modules)

I was going to try to revive the original sliders by deep cleaning and lubing them but they are too flimsy and several of them broke.

Unfortunately, the idiots at KeyTronic decided not to use standard spacing between the numpad, navcluster, and alphablock so they are all slightly offset from each other.
What I'm going to do is cut the PCBs into 3 and wire them all together. It still should be pretty stable since I put standoffs in each part.

By the way, does anyone know how to reliably measure keyboard chassises?
I don't want to mess up my multimedia Gateway Alps board project like this one (especially since that one will need a plate as well as a PCB)

Get a set of callipers to measure things, a cheap set of dial callipers should be sufficient

That's what I thought too but it's ever so slightly more.
