That's the exact one I want as well, but I think it's not going to happen.

except that that one has all legends badly aligned... and primary legends are latin not elven... and mods are text not icons... :P

Looks good like that!
Tough i somehow hoped for Sindarin letter-ed modifiers.. (I have no clue if that makes sense or if its possible - are there any glyhs which are 'unused', to be used on the modifiers))

Nevertheless it would be cool..

yeah I did some research on text modifiers, of course we don't have enough vocabulary (scroll lock?! caps lock?!) but it could be done. Just it would become extremely cryptic

the following is how it could work

Modifier > Sindarin > Actual meaning
Escape > awarthol > abandon
Alt > seidiol > set aside
Control > torthol > control
Back space > dravol > hew
Insert > nestagel > insert
Delete > dagel > slay
Home > bâr > home
End > meth > end
Page Up > ambenn > up
Page Down > dadbenn > down

I used the present participle for most verbs (-ol and -el suffix)... not sure it's the best but kinda makes sense.

Following that, how about... ?

Num (Lock) ⇒ nedia [number]
Caps (Lock) ⇒ caun [outcry, shout]
Scroll (Lock) ⇒ corn [circle] or rind [circle] (this one's really though)

Lock ⇒ annon [gate] or fennas [gateway]

That sounds imho sufficient for text mods.
Does someone mind if its criptical? I mean, most who might buy it touchtype and its for asthetics..

Another interesting alternative is to come up with icon mods styled how we might imagine Fëanor would have done them.

I've set everything to the present form, mostly because it's shorter. Updates to the translations.

Perfect match
Escape > awartho (abandon)
Control > tortho (control)
Insert > nestegi (insert)
Home > bâr (home)
End > meth (end)
Pause/Break > breitho (break out suddenly)

Could work
Page Up > am (up)
Page Down > dad (down)

Quite a stretch
Delete > dâg (slay)
Alt > presto (to affect, trouble, disturb)
Back space > dravo (hew)
Num Lock > nedia [something] (number)
Caps Lock > caun [something] (outcry, shout)
Scroll Lock > ???
zslane wrote: Another interesting alternative is to come up with icon mods styled how we might imagine Fëanor would have done them.
I thought about that, but it would be extremely complicated and time consuming.

Yes, that is the nature of all good art. I would think the creative challenge of it would fuel the artist within you.

Updates

Perfect match
Enter > minno (enter)
Escape > awartho (abandon)
Control > tortho (control)
Insert > nestegi (insert)
Home > bâr (home)
End > meth (end)
Pause/Break > breitho (break out suddenly) or daro (stop)

Could work
Page Up > am (up)
Page Down > dad (down)
Caps Lock > pedo caun (speak loud)

Quite a stretch
Delete > degi (slay, changed to infinite form)
Alt > presto (to affect, trouble, disturb)
Back space > pado dan (walk back) but I need confirmation this is actually correct
Num Lock > deri nedia (stop/halt numbers)
Scroll Lock > deri padad (stop walking) or deri yred (stop running)

Wouldn't these be used better for
up arrow = am
down arrow = dad

If Im mistaken please tell me, I do not speak Sindarin..

Russian set is looking great.

Few Corrections on bilingual set:

Russian " should be moved from key 1 to key 2 next to @, that's where it belongs

On Russian keyboard for ANSI layout signs \ and / are located on same key as English \ and |

Suggestions design wise. Take it with grain of salt:

You can add symbol ₽ on top of digit 8. That is the symbol for Russian money RUBLES, it is located on Alt Gr + 8 key. This symbol became official something like 4 years ago, and you can't see it on old keyboards.

Digits 1 3 4 6 7 are misaligned off center. Maybe all digits should be aligned together?

Letters Ё Ж Э Б Ю are misaligned. Since Russian is dominant alphabet for this layout, maybe Russian letters should be all aligned together.

Same thing could be said about " № ; : ? symbols positions. Russian on the left, English on the right ???

Scroll lock button ЭКР, which is most likely coming from ЭКРАН (Screen) sounds little bit confusing, especially when it is placed next to ПЕЧ (Print)

I would name those 2 keys differently.
ПЕЧ ЭКР (ПЕЧать ЭКРан) for Print Screen
БЛОК ПРОКР (БЛОКировка ПРОКРутки) Scroll Lock (not following ГОСТ, but I couldn't find any reference to it in those standards)

And you probably could do third button next to it as ПАУЗА СТОП (Pause Break key ) just for symmetry. 2 line text btw.

thanks for your feedback I'll work on few updates later. The only thing you guys have to find an agreement is:

I really can't tell what is better. All I can say is that БЛОК ПРОКР and ПАУЗА СТОП are too long and I would never be able to fit them in a 1u key.

specifically designed

Could they fit in 2 rows and maybe a bit smaller font?

For Sindarin is it possible to replace the | / pipe key with a glyph or something like that?

I need to know what you want to do with print screen, pause, etc.

Now back to Sindarin.

ПЕЧ and ЭКР are standard ЭВМ ЕС-1842 (see pictures on the first page of the thread).

More research on Sindarin. "shift" is notably missing and I don't have a clue how to translate that

Quite a stretch
