Custom Space Invader Keyboard

I wanted to make a keyboard with a lot of keys for typing (most importantly at least 6 thumb keys), but that layout doesn't exist so I had to take matters into my own hands. When I got my hands on a beyond repair badly damaged Tanden with space invader clickies,

I knew it would be the perfect candidate for a makeover. Behold my creation:

Only needed one jumper wire and one switch replacement (bit of key chatter, I think it got warped); I call that a success 8-)

Neat custom pcb. Unusual layout for sure. :P What was wrong with the Tandon? I'm sure it could have been fixed. They are pretty uncommon

Case was damaged, cable was cut, missing some crucial keycaps and a couple switches were faulty. "beyond repair" was definitely an exaggeration but it wouldn't be worth the effort in my opinion. Plus, I wouldn't even use it now that I'm switching to this layout ;)

I see, it did have quite a few issues. It is unfortunate that recyclers often cut the cables on keyboards. Btw, I noticed the one "bodge" wire. There always seems to be one on the first go :P

Update: the cardboard was annoying and wobble wobble so i came up with a more permanent solution
