IBM Model M Defective?

I was selling a Model M the other day, with a picture of the QC sticker posted on the listing.

A buyer asked me, why the "Card to Base" field was unsigned. I looked at the actual keyboard, and it indeed was blank.

Then I checked my Model F... Card to Base was signed.

Does this make the M some sort of a defective product? I'm feeling a little wonky, since the buyer bought it anyway, with the signature unaccounted for.

Is it possible that the ink faded over time?

Could the signature be the H looking scribble?

It's nothing important. See this thread first.

That photo is actually one of the Model F XT. I don't have the photo of the M handy.
