Recently I snagged an Acer KB 101-A. It looked really dirty in the ad
so I knew I was taking a chance on it.
It arrived, and I tentatively checked out how the switches felt. YUM!
Dirt and crap had accumulated between the keys but it looks like none
had made it into the switchs. I vacuumed the hell out of it and am very
happy with the results.
The only problems are that it's yellowed to the point of being near banana
colored, which I don't really care about, and the space bar.
One of the snap in plastic stabilizer clips which the the wire hooks into is
missing. Does anyone know of other keyboards that use that same type? I tried being clever and swapped out the corresponding part from one of the shift key,
but it turned out to be a different size, not long enough to retain the stabilizer
wire.
For now, I'm just hitting the space bar with both thumbs, because as someone
said 'Why the hell not?'
Thanks for any advice guys!

The KB-101A uses standard wire clips, they are the predominant type of stabiliser clip on Alps-based boards. You should have no difficulty getting hold of some. Pretty sure some guys in the US can help you out with some; if not, let me know and I'll send you a few . Congrats on the purchase!

Glad you're liking it ^^ . You might want to do a soft clean; I am going to publish a set of tutorials on how to do things like that (hopefully in not too long - it's a lot of work though).

Matias sells Alps stabilizer kits. Although I recommend filing a tiny bit off the bottom so they don't bottom out on the plate (quality of them seems to have dropped recently).

Thanks! If my digging through the spare parts boards doesn't work out I'll have a look at that.abrahamstechnology wrote: ↑07 Apr 2019, 19:50Matias sells Alps stabilizer kits. That got me thinking...there's an old broken Matias board in the wicker basket
of keyboards that have something wrong with them. I took it apart and there were
a pair of lovely space bar clips...a bit of messing about and fixed space bar
Thanks for all the help guys!
