F XT foam

Hi guys, bought a model F XT and loved the tiny bit of typing I did on it, but it needed a restoration. I have that underway but am stuck at what I should do with the foam. It was completely disintegrated and when I pulled apart the key assembly to clean the metal plate, it just fell apart. Is there somewhere I can buy a sheet that is pre-made? I really don't want to have to buy two hole punches and, knowing my tendency to fuck up, a bunch of sheets of foam just for one keyboard. Thanks!

Already checked that out, but unless I am blind, there isn't an option for F XT foam.

Ooo yeah, wasn’t paying attention. It should still work though. You’ll just have to get some scissors to make the weird ones line up. It shouldn’t matter that the whole thing isn’t one piece as the plates will hold it all together. Best thing would be to email him and get his recommendations. He’s been very helpful to be in the past for solving odd model F problems like this.

Plus make some small holes under each barrel since XT (/3178/5291) barrels mount slightly differently than 4704/104/122/AT ones. IMHO, you might as well cut a piece foam yourself at that point but YMMV. As ddrfraser1 said, I'm sure Ellipse would be willing to help you with finding alternatives, etc.ddrfraser1 wrote: ↑23 May 2020, 15:44You’ll just have to get some scissors to make the weird ones line up.

Yeah I am potentially willing to cut my own, but as I said, I would rather spend $30 on a premade one than $20+ on tools and however much for foam, as well as obviously having to do it myself.sharktastica wrote: ↑23 May 2020, 16:20Plus make some small holes under each barrel since XT (/3178/5291) barrels mount slightly differently than 4704/104/122/AT ones. What I mean is buy the premade one from brand new model fs and mod it with scissors.kelvinhall05 wrote: ↑23 May 2020, 16:49Yeah I am potentially willing to cut my own, but as I said, I would rather spend $30 on a premade one than $20+ on tools and however much for foam, as well as obviously having to do it myself.sharktastica wrote: ↑23 May 2020, 16:20Plus make some small holes under each barrel since XT (/3178/5291) barrels mount slightly differently than 4704/104/122/AT ones.
