Gorgeous pictures of a gorgeous keyboard! Thanks for the teardown

It's a big one, not your style phote! But you know that since you're one of the few people who own this already. I only really bought it for the switches. Once it's in our wiki I'll start thinking about a custom nixie board. Yeah that new lens of mine is pretty good.

I got a nice vintage 50mm prime lens too, but unfortunately it has a really long focus distance, so it's near impossible to use for keyboards

Would not suprise me if that exists but since I don't know what hardware this was for...
Just like I thought it's an old hat...

It seems that the hardware is Nixdorf Quattro 8870 series. Not sure if this is it.

Is this the earliest documented use of o-rings on MX switches?

Sorry I do not know. But I will add this to our wiki.

Lovely board, haven't seen a Nixdorf in a while. I remember someone was collecting those spacebar switches for a 60%.

I really like these legend, would love to have them on a 'real' spherical profile set like SA or DSA

In hindsight I would rename this thread "Nixdorf CT06-CT07/2 M Softkeys".

Everyone has to learn somehow. 7bit's far from the only one to constantly edit his thread titles around here. We're a forum full of Seebarters!

I had some fun with one of those Softkeys keyboards recently. After tearing it all down for the switches (
album here), I also got a few screw-in stabilizers for my troubles, which are nice. I already know where the Nixies are going, but I looked for something I could do with the keycaps.
Here's what I came up with
There was only one keycap I had to leave stock (space obviously).
Mine was a bit more yellowed overall than seebart's, unfortunately. Also, not all of the keycaps are doubleshots. Some of them are engraved+infilled, some of the caps lost their infill during the cleaning (numpad 0 down below, for example).
But the alphas are there and they are not that bad to type on. These old MX blacks feel quite similar to nixies, and the spherical dimples make for an interesting typing experience.
A fun experiment while this G80's real keycaps (doubleshots!) are still soaking, waiting for their deep cleaning

Did anyone try these keycaps for typing? Is there anyone who is interested in them?

Very nice board, seebart.

Fantastic caps and gleaming switches. Can't wait to see what plans you have in mind for them.
I originally bought those Xerox boards of mine with the intent to strip one for a custom project similar to what you're doing with this nixie, but I'm too much of a softie to desolder even just one of the damn things. Strangely, I've never felt that way toward Cherry, hahaha.

Really cool PCB, switches and keycaps - can almost taste history here
