Usually I find the same old thing, but this time I found something different. A Datadesk International Mac-101. It is missing a few things, and it is filthy, but I find it very interesting.

Neat how the alps keys have command on them instead.

The only Datadesk I knew of was an alps version with fruity keycaps.

That's not Alps, that's SMK 2nd gen. The inverse cross mount type is fairly rare. Nice find!

Yuck! That layout is indeed just a (rather simple minded) bastardisation of the Winkeyless PC layout to shoehorn it towards a Mac. They're doing it wrong!

What I do with that layout is make Caps Lock into Control, both Alts into Commands, and both Controls into Options. Gives it the same symmetry and ease of use as my HHKB. I pop an Fn key on (entirely useless) Insert so I can have media keys on the function layer. But I certainly do not remove the Delete key!

The LED window labeling is a confused consequence of the fact that the Mac has no concept of Num or Scroll Lock. Yet these geniuses could hardly go and pull the LEDs. Might have just made all three CAPS LOCK EXTREME WARNING!

I brought this last year without three keycaps only.
Glad the condition is better than this.
