white vs blue label model m. Is the difference just the date?

Im not too well versed on model m boards, im much more a model f guy but a bros got a birthday coming up. I figure hed like a model m(hes a coder too) but i dont know all the label differences and what they mean

Thickness of steel plates changes (the earlier, the thicker) thickness of cases (also earlier the thicker) you will also find that some late lexmark models use flat fixed cables as opposed to SDL removable cables.
The feel of the switches stays essentially the same.

They also sound different in my experience which I guess it's due to the thicker plates on the older ones
You can't go wrong either way they are all great boards
