Need help choosing the right switches

Hi there,

I just bought my first mechanical keyboard: Corsair K63 (The one without num-pad). It has Cherry MX Red switches. Everyone recommended me these for gaming, but now that I have it I get fatigued by using it playing shooters which require u to hold buttons down, such as Shift+W. Holding it down causes strains and I can't play for too long. I've checked all the switches, and I was thinking 'bout changing this K63 for a keyboard with brown or blue switches. IMO the blues sounds the best option for me, because they click, and holding the button down won't cause any strain or don't require alot of power. Am I right on this? Please help me finding the perfect switch.

P.S. I only play shooters

Greetings!

Which game requires you to hold Shift-W pressed?
Your problem is in the way how the game is controlled. No switches are going to help you if you need to keep pressed such crazy key combinations.

If you use Shift as RUN/WALK/CROUCH/PRONE movement modifier or something similar then reconfigure the game input so that changing movement mode is done using press-and-release key (not a press-and-hold-pressed key). Changing movement mode should require only one press and immediate release of a key.

If you really need to use press-and-hold-pressed modifier keys then get a keyboard with a thumb cluster (like e.g. Ergodox) where modifier keys (after possible remapping) can be easily accessed near your thumb natural position (instead of forcing you to keep you pinkie stretched in an uncomfortable position).
